1987 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Description

1987 Mercedes-Benz 300TD Wagon

Bought the car from previous owner as he ruined the starter trying to excessively crank it. Determined the long crank sessions were from leaky orings ad copper washers at the connector atop the injection pump. I changed all 6 out and now starts right up. In any case, I bought the car as a project but have since lost interest. Please see video of it at bottom of page.

General Car Info

· 298k miles

· Auto

· Diesel

· 3rd row seat

Mechanical Issues

· Oil leaks at rear main seal and oil pan gasket

o Rear main a little more severe than anywhere else

· Inoperable interior temperature display

· Exhaust leak at turbo clamp

· Slight vibration at idle that goes away under load

o Possible worn motor mounts

· I believe the drivetrain is completely original

· Overly sensitive ABS system…I believe one of the ABS sensors is acting up.

Interior

· Interior pretty clean

· 3rd brakelight has wooden housing

· Inoperable rear window regulators

· Heat/ac work fine

· All interior/exterior lighting work

· Electronic telescoping steering wheel

Exterior

· Exterior needs cleaning

· Tires in pretty good shape

· Broken front headlight plastic cover and rear tail light lens

· Dents here and there

· Side piece broken off rear bumper

All in all, the car did sit for about 7 months. The guy told me that it was a daily driver before that. Before anyone asks me if they could drive it away out of state, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Thanks for looking and feel free to ask any questions or clarifications.
