1986 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Description

1986 Mercedes Benz 300E 4 door sedan. (124 chassis)
For restoration, or as a good parts car.
I will not part out, but a person could easily get back 4-5 times their investment selling the parts, all of which are in good OEM condition.
Listed as "fair" condition only because my health and pocketbook prevent me from investing the effort, or money needed to get it running. Completely restored, this model lists for $2-7k on eBay.
Engine started and ran good until it ran out of gas due to a leaking line by the fuel filter that emptied the tank. (Line replaced.) Fires with a jump and starter fluid, which shows that the ignition is working. Appears to be a clogged/inoperative fuel system component somewhere between the tank and the engine. Could be in a line, filter, pressure regulator, pump, or the fuel injectors needing to be bled.
It is not driveable at this time, because it will not stay running. Will need to be towed.
Has been parked under trees for more than a year, so it is dirty, but hasn't been sitting in the sun.
3 liter in line 185 hp fuel injected 6 cylinder gasoline engine. In good condition.
4 speed automatic transmission. Shifts fine through all gears.
Rear wheel drive.
Power steering.
Power disk brakes w/ABS on all four wheels.
Rides and handles as a Mercedes should.
Electric windows, door locks, sun roof, factory alarm, cruise control, electric seat adjustors, after market AM/FM with USB and SD card jacks
Electronic locks work except when using the driver's door key lock assembly. They all lock via any door button, or using the key in the passenger door or trunk. The windows work fine except for the driver's side rear door, which seems to have a bad motor, or electrical wire problem. Locking the doors also locks the fuel tank door, trunk and arms the alarm.
Sun roof works and does not leak.
Halogen headlights. Factory fog lights. All lights work. ( fog lamp lens cracked.)
Excellent tires including full size spare. (90%+ tread all the way around)
Factory alloy wheels. Wheels and tires are worth the selling price by themselves.
Straight body, no rust and all glass good. (Las Vegas car its entire life.) Paint has been retouched sometime in the past and looks OK from 20', although far from show quality. It is the original Smoke Silver Metallic Clearcoat Code 702 color. The hood emblem is missing. (common parking lot souvenir!) . The driver's door mirror housing has a broken plastic cover part, but it doesn't interfere with its operation. Power passenger door mirror works fine.
All A/C components present, but A/C not working. The climate control unit and it's assorted hardware have been jury rigged sometime in the past and will need work to make heat, or A/C operational.
The interior is OK. There are cracks and the like in the front seats, but the rear seem to be fine. There is a carpet cover over the dash and the headliner is good. Sun visors are OK, but the light/vanity mirror units are coming apart. Good carpets and floor mats.
Dash has been converted to led lights. Gauges work sporadically. The odometer has not worked since I bought the car, so mileage is unknown. (common on this model) Shows 234,728 miles.
Inspections are welcome. Bring someone mechanically inclined and preferably, Mercedes experienced so they can give you an idea of what it will take to get it perfect. I have no problem with someone not taking my word for its condition!!

As is, where is, with no warranty.
I don't HAVE to sell it, so I will tell any lowballers to take a hike. (That means that I won't lower the price, so don't bother asking.) It is our extra vehicle, so I am looking for a good home where it will be appreciated and used.

I do NOT need help selling it so the scam artists who try to convince sellers to list with them can save their efforts.
If you don't like the price, that is your problem and I don't care to hear your complaints. (This is added for those morons who contact sellers and complain that the price is too much, or whatever, usually in a very derogatory manner. They really do need to get a life of their own.)
The sale will be cash, or PayPal only and any shipping arrangements and costs are the responsibility of the buyer. I have the clear title ready to be signed over as soon as payment has been verified. Note: PayPal will be verified before release of vehicle. I do NOT deal with international buyers. U.S bidders ONLY!
With a little investment of time and money, this classic Mercedes would make a really classy Uber/Lyft car, or as a fast and smooth, luxury ride.
Vehicle is for sale locally, so auction might close early.

A face to face cash sale is preferred.

If vehicle is shipped (at buyer's expense and arrangement) the sale is final once it leaves my property. Make sure that it meets the description BEFORE taking it away, as by the removal from my property, you are agreeing that no return, nor refund will be allowed from that point on.
