1986 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series E series Description

1986 Mercedes Benz 300E 4 door sedan. (124 chassis)
Relisting due to a non-paying bidder. Ebay doesn't refund "Buy it Now" fees when they close out a on-paying bidder case so "Buy it Now" is no longer available on this item. The scammer used it to shut down the auction less than a day after posting and then ignored all attempts at contact.

For restoration, or as a good parts car. I will not part out. It is NOT running, so must be towed.
Engine started and ran until it ran out of gas. Starts with a jump and starter fluid, but does not continue running. Traced fuel problem and it gets fuel to the injector pump beside the engine, but not to the cylinders.
Has been parked under trees for more than a year, so it is dirty, but hasn’t been sitting in the sun. ( I have moved it to the gate, so it will be easier to tow.)
3 liter in line 185 hp fuel injected 6 cylinder gasoline engine.
4 speed automatic transmission. Shifts fine through all gears.
Rear wheel drive.
Power steering.
Power disk brakes w/ABS on all four wheels.
Rides and handles as a Mercedes should.
Electric windows, door locks, sun roof, factory alarm, cruise control, electric seat adjusters, after market radio. (radio removed and in trunk doesn’t work.)
Electronic locks work except when using the driver’s door key lock assembly. They all lock via any door button, or using the key in the passenger door or trunk. The windows work fine except for the driver’s side rear door, which seems to have a bad motor, or electrical wire problem. Locking the doors also locks the fuel tank door, trunk and arms the alarm.
Sun roof works and does not leak.
Halogen headlights. Factory fog lights. All lights work. (Front driver side fog lamp lens cracked.)
Excellent tires including full size spare. (90%+ tread all the way around)
Factory alloy wheels. Wheels and tires are worth far more that the auction price by themselves.
Straight body, no rust and all glass good. (Desert car its entire life.) Paint has been retouched sometime in the past and looks OK from 20’, although far from show quality. It is the original Smoke Silver Metallic Clearcoat Code 702 color. The hood emblem is missing. (common parking lot souvenir!) . The driver’s door mirror housing has a broken plastic cover part, but it doesn’t interfere with its operation. Power passenger door mirror works fine.
All A/C components present, but A/C not working. The climate control unit and it’s assorted hardware have been jury rigged sometime in the past and will need work to make heat, or A/C operational.
The interior is OK. There are cracks and the like in the front seats, but the rear seem to be fine. There is a carpet cover over the dash and the headliner is good. Sun visors are OK, but the light/vanity mirror units are coming apart. Good carpets and floor mats.
Dash has been converted to led lights. Gauges work sporadically. The odometer has not worked since I bought the car, so mileage is unknown. (common on this model) Shows 234,728 miles.
Inspections are welcome. Bring someone mechanically inclined and preferably, Mercedes experienced so they can give you an idea of what it will take to get it perfect. I have no problem with someone not taking my word for its condition!!

It comes with a curbside guarantee. If it makes it to the curb, it’s yours! (In other words: as is, where is are the conditions of the sale.)
