1964 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series SE/B Description

Beautiful 1964 Mercedes 220SE-B sunroof coupe being offered for sale. This car was part of an estate in Scottsdale, AZ, I have the previous plate, and registrations dating back to the early 80's and I'm told that the car was here in Southern AZ since the mid 70's. Let me start by saying that I do not know much about the car, or these cars in general- so chances are, if you're looking at it, you know more than I do about what it is, options, etc. I am told that this is a "Euro spec" car and has more HP, all chrome bumpers, something about the headlights being different, etc. Fuel injected straight 6 engine, Automatic transmission, looks like "factory" AC or maybe aftermarket mounted under dash (see pics, the fan comes on and blows air but not cold, so not sure what it will take to get it working or what may be missing), PS, PB, etc.
The car has been sitting inside in climate controlled storage for several years, it does run and drive; however, it will need attention mechanically. New fuel pump and filter before the pump were installed along with a few gallons of new gas, new battery, and she started- runs, shifts, stops very well- but it doesn't like to stay running when you first start it, to say that it's cold-blooded is an understatement. Apparently it has a "cold start valve" and a button (seems aftermarket to me- but I don't know), is mounted under the dash just to the left of the steering wheel and it's supposed to work like a "choke", it seems to work, but the car likes to be at around 160* before it wants to idle nicely and go down the road. They didn't drain the gas tank, that will need to be done I'm sure, just added "Sea Foam" and a few gallons of fresh gas. Has good oil pressure, sounds great, shifts great, but I haven't driven it more than a few miles, because it should be gone through, new fluids, etc. It drips a bit of oil and tranny fluid where it's parked, both appear to be clean and nearly full on the dipsticks. Charging system works, as well as headlights, turn signals, radio (someone "upgraded" at some point and put speakers in the back dash, amp in the trunk) and a nice aftermarket steering wheel as well ; ) Don't blame me- I didn't do it. It actually seems to run better the more I drive it.
The interior looks good, seats have obviously been reupholstered at some point and look/feel great, carpet shows some wear on driver's floor, but overall looks good, some of the trim around the doors was installed poorly, and should be re-done, headliner is intact and looks good, sunroof slides smoothly and operates/latches as it should, even the little overhead interior lights work. Glass is all excellent, passenger's side rear window doesn't seem to want to roll all the way down and I didn't try to force it, all others are smooth. Chrome is beautiful, dash looks great but has a small crack in the glass near the trip-set, and the wood is dry, main dash wood looks great for its age, but the pillar wood is cracked and loose. I see no evidence of body repair or rust, the car is solid and straight. Trunk and undercarriage look very original, dirty, but I have several pictures from different angles that I'm happy to email if you'd like to see condition. The lines on this car are amazing, the doors shut like it just rolled off the showroom floor, they don't make them like this anymore, this car exudes quality, class and elegance. I'm sure that there are things I forgot to mention, I certainly don't have all of the answers you may need- but you're more than welcome to call or email with questions, come see the car or have a third party do an inspection. I couldn't find any type of data plate on the car, only the VIN/Chassis # stamped from the factory. If you tell me where to look and you need specific numbers just let me know and I can try to find what you need. I'm a licensed dealer in AZ, but this car is a private sale, I bought it to keep and drive- I'm also in real estate and just found another project property that I had to have, so a couple of things need to go. Although I may trade for an Airstream trailer, 1955 to 1957 Chevy pickup etc.
Please feel free to contact me any time at 520-404-1975 (Heather Anderson) if you have questions or would like to set up a time to come see the car.
