1981 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 300TD Turbo Diesel TD wagon with 3rd Row Seat
1981 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series TD Description
This was and IS my dream car. Unfortunately, it is NOT my wife's dream car. I would love to keep it and fully restore it, but it will never be her dream car, in any condition, because as most diesel vehicles made in the 1980's, it is loud and while being from the 1980's gets an extra point from me, as you might guess it gets another negative five from my wife. The kids love the 7 passenger seating with rear facing 3rd row seat, but their screams of joy only add to the whole loudness thing and earn the car additional negative points. I want this car to go to a good home where someone will properly restore her or at least love her properly. I have had nothing but enjoyment from driving this car from the moment I bought it in Florida a few (five?) years ago. I remember driving through Orlando and people stopping to stare, probably looking for the rest of the parade that wasn't actually behind me. I'm so very torn about letting go of this car, and I'm having a hard time thinking of everything to mention about it, good and bad. So I going to take a leap of faith and throw this one out to the universe and see what happens. I'm going to start this auction at only a penny so that it has the potential to be owned by anyone. May the person who will cherish her the most, win.
1981 Mercedes 300 TD Wagon. Daily Driver - Not a show car. Runs Great on Diesel, BioDiesel, or even Straight Clean Vegetable Oil (Cold winter weather would require thinning additives or a conversion) in its Non-Converted Condition. The injection pump is an amazing beast! Drove it yesterday. Not restored. Sold As Is. To restore, needs lots of things done: new floor panels, vacuum leak fix (runs a minute after key shut off), window switch replacement, dash light replacement (using external aftermarket now), odometer not working and reads 231,205 miles, hood raises (and stays up) and lowers (and latches) but drivers side support needs attention, rust here and there, torn headliner (shown in picture), starter and key switch good but I usually start in Neutral because it doesn't tend to want to start in park (lock out needs tweeked?), Manual Crank Sun Roof Works Great and Cannot Fail like the Electric Ones, etc. If there is anything I have left out, just ask and I will do my best to answer.
Happy Bidding!
