1964 Mercedes Benz 230SL, Wonderful Driver, Both Tops, Very Nice, No Reserve!
1964 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Description
Car is being resisted due to the "0 feedback" winning bidder playing games, ot paying the deposit, ot answering emails, nd completely wasting my time! PLEASE only bid if you are a serious buyer. This guy has not only wasted my time, ut has cost me money to relist again!
You're looking at my beautiful 1964 Mercedes Benz 230SL with 57,801 original miles (documented per title and receipts) with both soft and hard tops. The car is original numbers matching. The car is "driver quality", ut shows very well and gets thumbs up everywhere I take it! The paint shines nicely but does have a few small blemishes and a minor scratch by top of the passenger rear fender from being driven and enjoyed as it was designed to be, ot a garage queen that gets trailered everywhere! The car was restored about 10 years ago, ncluding a complete engine rebuild (a common problem on the 230SL's was premature cam wear and some other issues which have all been corrected) to the tune of $10,500 (receipt included). The car has only been driven a few thousand miles since the rebuild/restoration, nd used as a weekend fair weather toy. The interior was redone in rich leather on the seats and door panels, s well as a custom transmission tunnel cover that has been hand tooled (MB logo/ floral vegetation) which is very cool and quite unique! If not to your liking it is removable and it is carpeted underneath. It gives the car a cool cowboy feel...definitely one of a kind. All systems are working properly including brakes, ights, orn, ipers, eater fan, adio, ngine and tranny. 4 speed manual tranny shifts well. Clutch is in good working order. Brakes are strong. Car tracks straight and true. The engine runs like a sewing machine, nd is quite peppy. The soft top is in overall good condition but there are some wear marks/wear-thru where it folds when stowed away. The plastic window is very clear but not like brand new. The car also comes with a correct early factory original hardtop that is being repainted to match the car (currently black). It is The body and underside are solid as you can see in the pictures. Floors are in very nice condition. The trunk area is solid but does show signs of prior metal repair. There is also a leather trunk liner made from the same thick leather as the seats/doors. All glass is in very nice condition and the windshield shows no pitting. Most chrome/bright work was replaced during the restoration and is in very good condition. Again, his is a driver quality car so while it's beautiful it is not concourse perfect (but it's also not $137,000 either!). It's just that...a driver. Using Hagerty's Valuation Tool, his car is a very strong #3 (Good) putting it at $55,800 + 10% for 4 speed + $4,500 for the matching hardtop, aluing it well over $65,000. As you can see, t's a beautiful specimen ready to be enjoyed by its next caretaker. The car does not smoke or make any funny noises. Doors shut like a bank vault. It's a pure joy to drive and takes you back in time when you get behind the wheel. Who doesn't love a Pagoda SL?! The stereo was upgraded to a modern CD system that sounds good, ut certainly does not look "vintage correct"...that's easy enough to swap back to the original but I no longer have it. I have a few records and receipts that will be included in the sale. Car will also come with a set of very cool vintage 1964 Ohio license plates that you can use for car shows and drive in nights! Car is located at my home in South Carolina. Please all I ask is if you bid, ou are a serious and qualified bidder with funds readily available. Zero feedback bidders MUST contact me prior to bidding or I WILL cancel your bid! I ask for a modest $500 PayPal deposit to be paid immediately following the end of the auction and the balance to be wired to my bank within 3 business days. Please ask any and all questions prior to bidding, nd have permission from your spouse, oss, riest, r whomever might shoot you down and ruin the transaction. I will gladly sell to European buyers. The Port of Charleston is less than 3 hours from my home. Buyer is responsible for all shipping charges. I am a private seller, nd all sales are final. There are no warranties expressed or implied and the car is being sold as is. One lucky bidder is going to be enjoying this gorgeous convertible Benz this Spring and Summer! Doesn't that deserve to be you? I am running this as a NO RESERVE auction, o the last bid wins. Feel free to make me an offer to end the auction early. Don't miss out and be outbid in the final seconds! Thanks for looking and happy bidding! Good luck!
