1939 Mercury Mercury Description

Two (2) 1939 Mercury Deluxe Sedans (for one price)

My dear friend passed away recently and I am helping the family sell his two 1939 Mercury Sedans. They would like to sell both cars and all the extra parts as one lot. Both cars have clear titles, new plates, and are registered with tags that just expired in June 2017.
One car (the grey one) lived parked in a garage next door for 73 years and he grew up playing it it. He later bought it from the neighbor's estate and was in process of restoring it. It is an all original rust free California car, but it sat in a dry California garage for decades. This one has the rare option of the cool oval wind wings...a big deal back then before AC!
The other car (the Black one) was a clean 'parts car' he bought and towed back from Arizona. It was also an original rust free car, with original paint and interior (under seat covers) but recently he had the rear two fenders replaced (the originals I believe had dents).
Both cars are essentially rust free and have their original drive trains and interiors in tact...no major accidents. They both have the highly desirable Flathead Mercury 59 A B eight cylinder engines, one is known good and running, the other is unknown.
Both need restoration, but my friend had started the restoration on the next door car, having spent thousands already and got the neighbor's car running and driving with a rebuilt carb and new brakes. He drove it home from the local mechanic's shop a few years ago to start the cosmetics...then he got sick and recently lost his battle with cancer.
He had installed new glass and rubber seals in both cars. He has a trunk full of new parts, with receipts over $2k for new parts including fuel tanks, new radiators (2), a complete new wiring loom, 2 sets of new brakes (the first set is installed on the neighbor's car, so this second set was to be for the Arizonia car)...and many spare original parts he got off eBay. This car is 99.9% complete (missing only one ashtray). NOTE: the trim on the Grey car is off the car, he was color sanding the paint and removed them...but they are all there! There are also extra tail lights and an extra grill in pretty good shape too. Plus 8 original hub cabs, that can be seen on the black car.
We do not really want to separate the cars but all offers will be considered.
My friend had invested over $25K for both cars including lots of new parts, and then years of his time and effort in the restorations to date. However, the family wants to clear out the garage and rent the property and so is willing to sell the entire package for half of that @ $13,000 for a fast sale, or they will take highest offer they receive in the next 30 days.
Please contact me if you need more pix & details, or to make an appointment to see the cars. The family lives some distance away but I live near by and so these cars will be shown by appointment only, and only to qualified buyers. No newbie bidders without multiple positive feedback scores.
Would prefer a local buyer but can assist in shipping these cars anywhere in the lower 48...as I have some experience in this area.
