1949 Mercury Other Description

hello everyone, I have decided to sell my 1949 mercury full kustom. this one was built from a really really nice barn find mid westby Nunns Kustoms. thecar was found back in the 90s and was all built in house at the same place.

the top was chopped about 4.5 in the front and 5.5 in the rear for that really sneaky streamlined look also a real 49 three piece rear window was use, which is the one everyone wants.

the headlights are all handmade from steel and are canted and tunneled and use motorcycle headlights which are smaller than automotive lights flanking a nice Desoto grille which just looks killer in this sled.

the tail lights are 1952 buick which are canted and frenched to match the headlights, the trunk is shaved of handle etc. and used a solenoid popper located inside of the gas filler door

the frame is the original merc frame that was clipped using a 1974 nova front clip and has disc brakes which are power and stop the car perfectly and were just replaced at the time that front end was rebuilt about 700 miles ago. at that time a brand new g.m. 350 crate motor was put in as well as rebuilding the turbo 350 trans too, the motor has a factory g.m. warranty still. during the down time the car was cleaned up and some details were tended to such as installing a new driveshaft and sending lots of little things under the hood out to the chrome shop or powdercoater just for the detail and sparkle.

the interior is still the same interior that was done at Nunns Kustoms all those years ago and consists of a pair of Mercedespower bucket seats up front and a 65 t- bird wraparound rear seat.

the car has air conditioning and heat that work as they should, and a cd player that really cranks! this car is very nice and tight on the road and has not rattles or shakes etc. I would not be afraid to drive it anywhere and since I have owned it ...I have driven it lots of places . since the car has been built a while there are some paint chips and minor interior wear, not a perfect car but a really nice driver.
