You know what? This is a cool car. Very well restored throughout. Old school cool with modern upgrades. 1942 is a rare year for any car, we were going into World War ll. Production stopped until 1945.
EXTERIOR: Just arrived from out west. Clean, all the original metal. No patches or rust through. The doors have never been off the car. We have pictures of the body stripped down. The paint is gorgeous- root beer metallic. The metal flake laid out evenly, the clear coat is polished slick. It is glossy and deep. It has radial wide whitewall tires with deep dish chrome wheels and original Mercury hubcap centers. The stainless moldings overall are original and overall very nice. The grill and bumpers have been rechromed. Tail lights and turn signals are upgrade with LED. New lightly tinted glass except rear window is original. The door jambs are painted nice, the weather strips are replaced. It has a power antenna.
INTERIOR: I'm sitting in the car and I love it. Smells like leather, very comfortable. Glove soft leather upholstery. The bucket seats have armrests, built in retractable shoulder belts and the both sides are power. The headliner and visors are redone, it does have some stains by the rear window. It has a custom made center console with the chrome a/c controls and vents. Also neatly installed water temp gauges, USB/aux port and cup holders. Original gauges function and have LED lights. The clock does not work. When it was gutted the inside was lined with Dynamat sound deadener. New carpet. I think it's very cool that the original radio was rebuilt with modern technology. It has working wonderbar and bluetooth. There are kick panel speakers and 6x9 speakers in back. All new wiring with a modern push in fuse block.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Very meticulously restored motor compartment. The Flathead V-8 has a nostalgic performance build. It's a 1948 motor that's been bored 30 over with a 4 inch stroke. Upgraded with 1953 front plate so it could be upgraded with a new electronic ignition. Also upgraded 1953 water pumps. It has stainless steel valves and seats, Isky cam, Offenhauser 24 bolt heads, Offenhauser intake manifold with two Stromberg 97 carbs. It also has vintage headers. Other upgrades include a remote oil filter, 12 volt system and chrome alternator. Rebuilt radiator, has an electric fan with custom shroud to keep it running cool. A big upgrade is the new air conditioning and heat system. Everything looks fresh, everything is installed neatly.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The floor was Dynamated and carpeted, the rear seat divider is upholstered. The bottom of the trunk lid is painted, new weatherstrip.
UNDERSIDE: Rock solid metal that was cleaned and sprayed with bedliner. Bottom of the motor is spotless. Has 3 speed manual transmission. New flywheel, pressure plate and throwout bearing. The brakes are all rebuilt. New master and wheel cylinders front, stainless braided hoses. Emergency brake works. Has four new shocks, an added front sway bar, new lowered front spring for the old school hot rod stance. New rear spring. Dual exhaust with glasspack mufflers give it that perfect Flathead sound. Fuel tank is new. The mechanical fuel pump works fine, there is an electric pump as a back up. Underneath this car is cleaned, painted real nice.
This car isn't perfect but it is really nice. Everyone here really likes it. Great colors, great features and it's different!
