If your wondering where the gas gauges is....release the fuel filler door andremove the long metal flat rod...it is marked with "Full...3/4...1/2...1/4. It holds 12 gallonsand should average 25-30mpg so simply write down the mileage and inspect the fuel rod everycouple of 100 miles.
The previous long time owner was the President of the MG Club. It was restoredto a very high level and to exacting standards...the quality shows notonly in it's appearance, but when you drive this fabulous sportscar from the late, great 1950's.
The MG TF was only produced for two years 1953-1954 as a stopgap between the MG TD and the MGA.
In order to stimulate sales in the US, a 1500cc power plant was introduced in 1954.Only 3,000 such cars were produced with 90% going to the US.
The MG TF is often considered the most desirable by collectors of the T-Series.This example is powered by a four-cylinder engine that displaces 1500cc(1466cc to be precise)and capable of producing nearly 65 horsepower.
Ithasa four-speed manual gearbox and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. When the MG TF was first introduced,it was powered by a XPAG 1250ccenginebut the demands for more power by the consumers brought about theadditional 250 cubic-centimeters. The consumers got what they wantedand the resulting vehicle was dubbed the MG TF 1500.
This 1955 MG TF 1500 Roadster has been treated to a frame-off restoration.
The car contains some desirable features such as side curtains, aTantop,Tan Tonneau, and a rear mountedwire wheelspare tire. Thespectacularwirewheels and wind wingsare also seldom seen features. To duplicate a restorationtoday to the concourse levelof this car will cost $100,000+ and take 2-3 years.(That is if you can locate the parts)
I could ramble on for hours about this particular car. I have driven it at 65-70mph onthe Florida Turnpike and it is a ball to drive. I asked my son to take it for a drive today (he's 33)and at first he said no thanks Dad. After a few minutes he changed his mind and came backwith a huge smile on his face and said...."Dad, this is one very cool car"
If your 25 or 30----50 or 60 or even in your 80's...whoever is the lucky winning bidderwill absolutely love the way this car looks and drives. Invest your money in something you just don't "Put in the Bank" but something you can "Drive to the bank and anywhere else you might choose to do with your family & friends."Why not have fun with your money? ...enjoy your life and know that when you wake up in the morning your dollars are still safe in your garage or warehouse&haven't evaporated into thin air!I asked Jerry J. Moore while staying at his house in September of 1989, "why do you now have over 1000 collectible cars?"He replied with a slight grin and replied "Should I buy more?" We made a 10 car deal involving V-12 Ferrarison a breakfast napkin at the Dobbs House restaurant in the Houston Hobby Airport just before I boarded my flight back to Miami, Florida...and that was Jerry J...having fun and wheeling & dealing 24/7...anywhere and anytime!Iconsider my self veryprivileged to be close friends with the late Jerry J. Moore fromHouston,Texas. Jerry was a Real Estate Mogul and one of the largest owners of shopping centers in the world.I really miss my pal and think of him often.Jerry was also an avid car collector and amassed one of the largest and best vintage car collections on the Planet. If Jerry told me once....he probably told me over 100 times......"In case you forgot...remember..."You will never see a Brinks truck at a funeral service or a Hearse with a luggage rack at a cemetery!"He believed that at best, life is uncertain and that sometimes one should enjoy desert first.Car collecting is a family thing...everyone around the world admires and loves these great vintage and collectible cars.We have sold cars fromAustraliatoAlaska...FromChinatoSaudi Arabia.....FromManhattantoMoscow....and the hobby keeps growing & expanding all the time.Collector car insurance is dirt cheap...about $250-$300 a year for a quality collectible like this. and you can buy full coverage! They usually require a garage and not more than 2500-3000miles a year put on the car.I recommend you only buy a car like this if you have a garage to keep it in.I always try and look for major flaws and mention them and try to point them out when I see something. If you call me I will go over the car with you in great detail... inside and out.Ialways try and find some flaws in every car and mention anything that doesn't work. I couldn't find anything not working or any flaws in this carYour welcome to come in person to inspect this car for yourself...hire anyone you like to come on your behalf....bring your Experts and magnifying glasses........see if you can find anything really negative worth mentioning...we tried and couldn't find anything ...maybe you can?We have tried diligently to find any MAJOR flaws in the paint, body, interior, mechanical or electrical systems and have not been able to locate anything that we could list as a problem. Please don't buy a Museum quality car like this unless you have a garage to store it inside. We do notbelieve this carhas ever been left outside.
You can look at this car in bright outdoor sunlight or indoors under halogen or florescent light...it still looks spectacular....but don't take our word...PLEASE...come and check it out yourself. I don't like surprises. Our goal not's to give you any....this is a NO DISAPPOINTMENT collectibleclassic!
