1951 MG T-Series Description

This is a genuine Mark II TD with proper TD/C chassis number (TD/C 9228 on the front frame horn as well as the data plate), all four Andrex shocks and dual fuel lines/pumps. It has been repowered with a Triumph engine and transmission (TR 3, I believe) which makes the car much more capable of today's highway speeds.
The body is in very good condition with no indications of rust or rot. See the photo of the rear quarter panel which is usually the first area that rots. Also, note that both rocker panels have the correct seam beneath the doors. This is often a sign of a solid, unmolested tub. Door fit is excellent for a TD. Fenders are solid and straight...again, no signs of rust or rot.
The bumpers appear to be fairly recent replacements. The front is excellent, but the rear has some deformation in the left side.
The top and side curtains are in very good condition with excellent visibility through the plastic windows.
All of the chrome including the radiator shell is very presentable.
Seats are vinyl with a small tear in the bottom cushion on the driver's side. Tach and speedometer are from a Triumph (fairly common conversion) while the center instruments and switches are correct for a TD. Car is also equipped with a heater!
Mileage shown is only a guess as the speedometer was changed when the TR engine was installed. Based on previous owners' records, the car has been driven about 2500 miles since 1990!
Car runs and drives. However, it is sold as is, where is with no warranties or guarantees. The new owner can use it with the Triumph powertrain or convert it back to a genuine Mark II engine and TD transmission. I will offer the new owner all the parts to make the conversion should there be an interest in doing so.
Car is located in Burlington, Wisconsin and is available there for inspection. It must be picked up there although I may be able to deliver it for a nominal fee in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania or New York. Contact Ed at 847-830-7193 for further details.
