1952 MG TD Midget -- Description
1952 MG TD Burgundy over Tan Nicely Restored in 2010 46,744 Miles Body Type: 22381 Body #: 13927 / 83891 Car #: TD14566 Engine #: XPAG-TD2-11927 Original Engine #: XPAG-TD2-14725 CONSIGNMENT SALE Evolve Motors & Chicago Car Club are pleased to present this 1952 MG TD! We are selling this lovely ‘52 TD on behalf of a local client. The car was restored by the previous owner around 2010, and 8 years later still presents exceedingly well. As it sits, this is a nicely sorted, excellent-to-drive example that is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner. Exterior: - Painted burgundy during 2010 restoration. Paint shows very nicely. Blemishes are limited to a small paint chip on the driver door, as well as a few tiny markings on the back of the headlights from the bonnet making contact as it was opened/closed. - Chrome is excellent throughout. Free of oxidation or damage. - Light lenses and all glass is clear and crack-free - Steel wheels with chrome hubcaps are in great shape. No dings in the hubcaps. Dunlop tires are in nice shape as well, and the DOT number indicates they were manufactured in 2012. - Beige canvas top is free of any damage. The car does have a boot cover for the soft top with it, though it does not fit properly. - No side curtains Interior: - Tan leather seats are in excellent shape, with no tears and only minimal signs of age. - Dash is mint. No scuffs or cracks. Gauges all look great and are functional. Odometer indicates just shy of 47k miles on the chassis, though fairly irrelevant considering that the car has seen both a cosmetic and mechanical restoration. - Black carpeting and MG floormats appear as-new. - Door panels show no age or kicked-open markings. Underbody / Under the Hood: - Engine is not the original unit, though it is the “correct” XPAG-TD2 motor. We’re lead to believe that this motor was rebuilt during the 2010 restoration, though unfortunately we do not have receipts for the services completed. Car will come with its MG TD workshop manual. - Underbody is in excellent shape. Please take a look through the photos, as the underbody is documented in detail. No through rust, no damage. The underside of the fenders look great as well. - Car runs and drives very well. Choke out, pull the starter knob and the car fires right up. Idles nice and quietly with no excessive smoke, accelerates smoothly through the gears. Shifts are nice and easy, steering is direct, and the car tracks straight under both acceleration and braking. While driving these cars at speed or through heavy traffic isn’t for the faint of heart, this one does inspire confidence as a driver and is an absolute blast to driver.
