1967 MG MGB 1967 MGB ROADSTER MK 1. Description
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this really lovely MGB Roadster from what is considered the best and the final year for the MK 1 series, fitted with the desirable 5-main engine. This car was purchased locally here in California as a totally complete and together, perfect restoration vehicle about 8 years ago. It's believed to have been a California car since new and there is supporting paperwork with it's re-issued blue/yellow license plates dating back to 1979. The lst time it was registered for the road was 1982.Upon purchase, this car was carefully stripped down to it's current rolling bodyshell, power-washed with a 4000psi steam cleaner in, out, and under, and then delivered to the paintshop. It spent 3 months there undergoing a beautiful, show-quality, bare metal repaint in it's current version of Mineral Blue including painting the engine compartment, trunk, and car's interior. The car was then carefully undercoated as original.During that time, the engine and gearbox were disassembled and completely rebuilt. The low-mileage engine had near-perfect bores and were honed and re-ringed with good piston fit. The camshaft and crankshaft were reground, rods were sized, cylinder head rebuilt, rockershaft rebuilt. The short block was reasssembled with all new parts including bearings, timing chain, lifters, oil pump, seals, and gaskets. The gearbox was disassembled and rebuilt with all new bearings, seals, and syncros replaced. A new 3-piece clutch was balanced to the surfaced flywheel. A new water pump, generator, and a new stainless exhaust system(still in the box) were purchased. The original HS-4 carburetor set was perfectly rebuilt utilizing new carb kits, and the radiator was rodded out and repainted, ready to go.All of the car's original hardware that was removed was cadmium plated. The car's "black" bracketry and parts were sandblasted and repainted in black enamel.Thousands of dollars have been spent at Moss Motors. NEW parts include a wiring harness, side body molding set, light lenses, front and rear bumper plus overriders, body rubber, body gaskets, fuel line set, engine paint, radio console, original type steering wheel, cooling hoses, air cleaners, inner tubes, ignition set, heater ducting, bulkhead grommet kit, new chrome knock-offs, etc.A completely new quality Moss interior kit was purchased in Black which includes a leather seat kit, deluxe carpet kit, panel kit in black with blue piping, quality black Robbins tonneau cover and top, all still new in the box. New seat foam and rubber diaphragms were also purchased for restoration of the seats. They will be picked up from the trimmer and pictured with the ad in the new few days. The car's 1/4 window door assemblies have been rebuilt with new rubber, and the side door glass is perfect. Lots of time has been spent detailing small components, chrome items, hardware, etc.The car's original 14" wheel set (5) was powder-coated in a black gloss finish and fitted with a taller 185/80xR15 tire set to fill the wheel wells and have better freeway ratios.Overall, a superb 1967 MGB Roadster on its way to becoming a beautifully restored car. This car would only require 3 to 4 dedicated weekends of some minor prep and final assembly, and one would have a fantastic, freshly completed, and rebuilt fun sportscar for the upcoming summer. It’s the absolute perfect at-home project right now, as just about all of the outside subcontracting work has been completed, and the new owner can enjoy a simple straight forward assembly in the privacy of their own garage. Please look at all pictures and call or email with any questions. We will assist in shipping worldwide.
