1957 Nash Special 1957 Nash Metropolitan 1500 Hardtop (Series III) Description
This is a 3 day sale!! Any bid is a bid to buy with no reserve!
This is a 1957 Nash Metropolitan model 1500 Hardtop equipped with a Ford Ranger 3.0 V6 engine and Automatic transmission!Further, this Met has had the MG Midget front disc brake conversion added as well! Expensive!
This is a MOST unusual Met! Most modified Mets have large V8 conversions and can run in the $30,000 range easily with all the custom work from top notch speed shops. This Met was modified with the intent of keeping the original look, but updating it for everyday modern use. With a 3.0 engine, automatic trans, and front disc brakes, you definitely have a modern cars mechanicals!
This Met was modified in early 2000 by a man from the Midwest who was a Ford man who also loved the look of a Met. All of the modifications were done by him. In all my years being involved with these cars, i`ve never seen a conversion with a Ford truck as a first choice! Its pretty amazing, and must have taken countless hours of major structural modifications to complete.
The car is running now. It had sat for 15 years as the man who converted it passed away over 10 years ago. The car sat outside for a few years which explains the paint starting to bubble in many spots all over! It will definitely need new paint to make this Met shine like it once did in the early 2000s.
This Met is very solid! All the places where you usually expect rust from its typical unit construction are still OK! The doors close very tight with no sag drag. The rocker panels are still solid as well! Where the paint is bubbling or starting to lift is in strange places like to the left of the spare tire, and well above the rockers on the doors. Overall, the car is quite solid. Ive seen a lot of Metropolitans with major rust concerns over the years, but this car is not one of them!
I've been involved with these cars for over 40 years now. I own many used Met parts and have access to just about anything you would need if its original to the car, from engines to radios. I can offer all thzt i have at no cost if it helps.
Please email me and ask lots of questions!! I expect to get a bunch on this special customized Met! Its a real unique antique!
