1992 Nissan 240SX SE Limited Edition Description
I am the third owner of this 1992 Nissan 240SX SE Limited Edition convertible, having gotten it from a neighbor after I expressed interest due to its nice design and clean lines. The original owner, as I understand it, was a Southern California Nissan dealer's daughter but my neighbor owned it for most of its life until I got it and I've had it for at least a decade. This is a really really fun and zippy car to drive and often turns head when going by but unfortunately I am getting a little too old to get in and out since it's rather low so I decided reluctantly to sell it.
Very limited production hand-built convertible that was fully authorized through Nissan with only 2327 made for 1992, it is in excellent condition and just passed California's stringent emission tests with flying colors. It's not driven often so needs a thorough cleaning and polishing to get back the gloss of these photos. The fuel pump and rear tires were replaced when I first got the car and two years ago the catalytic converter was also replaced during the emission inspection.
Has a new battery and runs and drives very well. The tires are good although it's been sitting so the safety items should be inspected before any long distance highway driving. Needs a new top (or at least the rear window) and the driver's rear quarter window seems to be partially out of its track in the roof making it difficult to get the window up without fussing with it but everything else works as far as I know including the AM/FM/Cassette/CD radio which is from a somewhat newer Nissan. I do have the original radio and CD player if you want them but they would need to be serviced for use and the speakers currently in the car should probably be replaced due to age.
The interior is not perfect and has a very small spot of wear-through on the outside edge of the driver's seat but is not bad other than needing some cleaning. The dash is excellent and the factory Nissan floor mats to go with it. Typical of these cars whether convertible or closed models, the passenger door panel cloth insert is loose but I have had the driver side panel professionally repaired by an upholstery shop. Originally at the factory these were simply stapled in place but the repair, which was done from the back side, used both upholstery glue and staples so should never come apart again. Also included are some new factory finishing screws and small hardware for the door panels in case they are needed as a couple did not look stock to me when I had the door panel off. The driver's inside door pull bezel was also replaced at the same time with a new one so has nice, crisp labeling.
The body is excellent other than the usual parking lot dings and has had all the upper surfaces repainted, except for the windshield frame, although the bumpers appear to have gotten some slight delamination since then so would likely need to be replaced if restored but serviceable as they are and some inconsiderate person put a scratch on top of the rear spoiler. There is a close-up photo of the driver's front below the headlight for an example of the delamination. Also visible in the photos, there is a dent in the driver's front fender just behind the wheel opening and there is another small dent on the same fender near the upper front.
Not shown but also included is a full set of factory service manuals including the special ones for the convertible AND the very hard to find top boot. This boot alone cost nearly as much as the opening bid!
