This 1982 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais belonged to my Dad.Hebought it in 1992 and loved it till his passing in 2009. At that time he was told that the car came from Arizona or Nevada. The speedometer reads in miles so it is a US car for sure. It still wears its original paint and has had a few touch ups. It has a few scratches and bumps and some of the paint is peeling but nothing major. I don`t think it even has any door dings. It could use some new paint butits very rare to find one thatstill looks reasonably respectable with original paint. The frame is untouched and original. The car has never been in an accident as far as I know. Its never had any rust and Dad always had the car put on a lift and washed out underneath after the summer season. It was oiled down with an oil preservative before storing it for winter. It was always put in dry storage for the winter season and was never driven in the winter. The rear frame rails are perfect.
The Cutlass came from the factory with a 350 Diesel engine. These were not the most reliable engines so when it died he replaced it with a 350 Olds gas engine. The engine was rebuilt and has about 20 to 30k on it.I rememberit having a mild cam and higher compression pistons in it.You can hear the cam when it idles. It still has the original exhaust which is in pretty good shape. If I were keeping the car I would replace it with a 3 inch system. Being that the car was a diesel it has the factory oil cooler and cooling system. It also has heavy duty suspension with front and rear sway bars.
The interior has buckets and console and are in nice shape. The dash is nice with no cracks or fading. It has the factory tach and gauges. Carpet is in nice shape. The vinyl on the drivers seat lower part has a few cracks in it and should be replaced to make it perfect. The sun roof had the seal replaced and needs an adjustment to sit flat with the roof. I don't think its leaking but doesn't look perfect. The rear seat quarter panel coversare getting a little crispy. I think someone is remaking those or an upholstery shop can recover it. Sill plates and headliner look great. It could use a good upholstery cleaning but should clean up fine.
The AC was working but has quit. I think it just needs a recharge as it has a new compressor. The cruise control was never hooked up after the engine swap was done, It just may need hooked up. The car has been sitting awhile so I'm sure there are a few things that may need replacing or work but with a little effort it could be a great car for going to car shows or daily driving.
I will assist in transporting the car to the US border if needbe. I can deliver the car to the Osoyoos / Orville border crossing. I believe that you will need a broker to get the car across customs if you are a US citizen. I know that its not a problem with anything older than 25 years.I`m sure I`ve missed somethings in my description. As I remember I will keep adding to the listing.
