That is why at Classic Cars Online, our listings will go over and show every area of the vehicle that is up for auction. Bid with confidence! 1966 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Convertible Paint / Body: This is a very solid and rust free vehicle. We believe it still retains all of its original body panels with no body filler. One section of the floor pan was replaced by the driver's foot area. The body panel alignment and fit is good. The car was repainted once when it was restored. General Motors called this metallic paint color "Firemist Red". The paint is holding up very well and still looks great with no orange peel, checking, or fading. The right rear quarter panel was re-sprayed a few years ago because of a scratch. (At certain angles, it looks to be just a shade darker then the rest of the vehicle.) Convertible Top: The white convertible top was replaced when the vehicle was restored. It fits and looks great. There are no holes, rips or marks on the soft top. The power convertible top motor is working along with the hydraulics. The rear plastic window is also in great shape with no scratches, discoloring, or fogging. The white snap on convertible boot is in great condition without any rips, marks or other problems. Chrome / Trim: All of the exterior chrome and stainless steel trim pieces are in very good condition. The front and rear bumpers were rechromed and are straight and true with a deep shine. They are aligned and fitted to the body very nicely without any uneven gaps. The rest of the chrome items and stainless steel trim pieces look to be still original. They look good but not 100% perfect. Some very minor pitting in a few places, (Hard to find and see.) The bezels around the taillights, headlights, and cornering lights look great. All of the correct emblems are in good condition with no major wear. Some of the original pot metal trim pieces have some minor pit marks here and there. The car has four of the original looking "T3" style headlights adding to the correct and original look. Interior: The interior was redone during the restoration. Most everything was replaced or gone over and reconditioned. New carpeting, seats covers, and door panels. The white vinyl interior has no rips, marks, holes, or any other problems. The factory instrument cluster looks great. All of the interior trim pieces are also very nice. The chrome knobs, door handles and dash parts do not show any pitting or problems. The factory steering wheel is in great shape with no chips or cracks. (In my opinion, this steering wheel is the best looking wheel Oldsmobile designed.) The chrome center piece and horn ring are very nice. The car is loaded with options. Power Windows, Power Seat, Cruise Control, AM/FM Radio with Power Antenna, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Cornering Lights, Remote LH Mirror, and Remote Trunk Release. All of these options are working along with the rest of the electric items. (Lights, Gauges, Horns, Speedometer/Odometer and Heater.) The only thing that isn't working is the factory clock. Engine Compartment: The engine compartment has a very stock original look. It is clean, but not perfect. This original 425 cu. in. Rocket engine was rebuilt along with the 3-speed automatic transmission when the vehicle was restored. (About 23K miles ago. The odometer was turned back to zero(0) during the restoration.) The engine runs great and doesn't burn oil, smoke, or tick. The transmission shifts out nice and smooth with no slipping or other problems. We are unsure of the rear end ratio. Feeding this power plant is a four barrel carburetor. The vehicle also has power steering and power brakes, both systems are working great. In 2016, it received new hoses, belts and wires. Trunk Compartment: The trunk compartment still looks all stock. It is detailed and spotless. It has a correct looking trunk mat along with the factory jack, jacking tools, and spare tire. The spare tire is a B.F. Goodrich T/A white wall, size 235/70R14 and matches the four other tires. The trunk floor under the mat looks great. (Original trunk floor pans.) The white convertible boot cover is kept in the trunk. Glass: The vehicle has factory tinted glass. All of the glass pieces look great with no cracks, marks, or stone chips. The optional power windows are working as they should. (All four of them.) The rear convertible top window is plastic. It is equipped with a zipper allowing the window to be lowered from top. It is not scratched, discolored, or fogging. Wheels / Tires: All four(4) B.F.Goodrich T/A tires are in pretty good condition. (Some wear on the front tires.) The tire size is P235/70/14 and they with the correct looking size wide white wall. These tires are mounted on the stock rims that have the correct Oldsmobile wire spoke spinner hubcaps. These factory hubcaps are in very nice condition without any major curb scratches or dents. The center emblems on the spinners are also in great shape. Undercarriage: The underside of the car is still fairly clean. During the body on restoration, a weak section of the driver's foot well floor pan was replaced. This is the only area that needed some rust repair. The frame looks to be solid and straight. The chassis was painted with Rust-Oleum. The power drum brakes are working as they should. There are no leaks or other problems with brake system. The brakes do not squeal, fade, pull or pulsate. The parking brake has been adjusted and is working correctly. The suspension is good with no known problems or issues. The front end received new bushings in 2016. The factory exhaust manifolds feed a dual exhaust system that exits at the rear. The system seems solid but rusty. The left tail pipe has a small hole but was patched with a clamp. Nine times out of ten, people selling a car would not talk about or take any photos of the underside. The undercarriage tells you a lot about the car, that is why there are a few pictures of the bottom. Manuals: The vehicle will come with the Owner's Operating Manual, Owner Protection Plan Book, and a Convertible Folding Top Operation Manual. Two thick repair shop manuals along with a few miscellaneous items and parts will also go along with the vehicle. A car cover is also included. (44133 Zip Code) North Royalton is located near the Cleveland, Ohio area. You will be purchasing this vehicle directly from the private owner who has owned this classic for 8 years. The odometer is working and showing 23,279 miles. These are the miles since the vehicle was restored back in 1989. The actual mileage is unknown. The vehicle has a free and clear Ohio title that is ready to be signed and notarized. This Delta 88 is not a 100 point trailed show car. It's also not your average "driver" quality show car either. We would say this convertible is better then most cars you would see at your local car show and/or Cruise Ins. It is the best of both worlds. A vehicle that was restored that can be driven and enjoyed. (Car shows on Saturdays, and going with the family for ice cream on Sundays.)
