On Dec-01-18 at 05:13:43 PST, seller added the following information:I've been asked several questions,
One is why is this GTO so rare, I'm the 2nd owner. In 1967 they only made 7029 sedans, post cars. The black was popular, but the red interior was special order, also what makes it super rare is it was special ordered black, red interior, with the heavy duty 3 speed manual transmission, Hurst shifter in the floor. The Hurst shifter was sent to Perfomance years, and rebuilt, also the OEM console is in perfect condition. As a GTO enthusiast, I've researched, there were only a handful of post cars black, with RED interior...and most people wanted a Muncie 4 speed, this one is factory matching number car, 3 speed. This car is probably one of the rarest GTO'S YOU'LL FIND.
Second question was what it needd to be finished. It needs the interior to be done, I have EVERYTHING brand new, carpet, headliner, door panels, rear seat upholstery, the only thing I don't have are the bucket seat upholstery. Yes everything is new, and was ordered from Ames Perfomance.
The car was stripped to bare metal, metal prepped, and EPOXY primed, before any body work was started. The car need very little work before it is ready for paint. All the glass is good, front and rear windshield have NO RUST around them, and they have the clips on, for the molding.
I do have all the trim pieces for this car, windshield moldings, rocker moldings, everything, all in very good shape and all is OEM!!! The only moldings I DO NOT HAVE are the wheel house moldings. This car needs about a months worth of work, and it will be finished. As far as driving and running, it needs new tires, which I have a set that goes with the car, they are in great shape, used but plenty of tread on them. The front end needs aligning, because it was completely rebuilt wit ALL red energy suspension bushings, new ball joints, tie rod end brake lines etc...
The motor was pulled, and I put a new oil pump, fuel pump, water pump, new Zoom clutch, new motor mounts, etc....
The car will crank and she runs STRONG!!!! Shifts easily, 4 wheel power disc brakes, with slotted rotors. The headlamp wiring harness needs to be install, yes I have it. Great show, also the taillamp wiring harness need installing, I have it also. I have literally EVERYTHING to finish this car. Just not the time. This could easily be one of THE RAREST GTO'S YOU'LL FIND. Completely finished it could easily sell for maybe 6 figures!!! It's that rare!!
Someone asked..why are you selling it, after having everything to finish it, I don't have the time to finish it, also my wife had a liver transplant, so after owning this car for 32 years, I'd like to see someone buy it and finish it.
Also, if bought. There is a 1,000.00 immediate deposit required, and the rest in CASH when the car is picked up. The car is being sold AS IS!!!
The deposit is non refundable. There is NO WARRANTY on the car. The car is registered in my name, I DO NOT have a title. A title for this car is easily to get, it has NO LIENS or anything like that. All is required in Ga, is a bill of sale, and it will be notarized. This is a VERY RARE GTO, and believe me, I know what I have, I will NOT TELL YOU THE RESERVE. Bid with confidence. And please, if you have any questions, feel free to call me at 912-656-4049. My name is Mike. Owner is responsible for shipping, or picking this car up. Also everything that goes with it, which is literally a full truckload of parts. Most still in the boxes. The GTO emblems for the quarter panels are brand new, GM STILL IN THE GM WRAPPER. Thanks for looking and HAPPY BIDDING.
