Description

RB Collection offers this handsome and strong-running 1939 Packard 115 Convertible Coupe. Although the six-cylinder models were at the entry level of the 1939 Packard range, this wonderful car is still every-inch a true Packard. Recently serviced by our own in-house experts, this is a wonderful driving example. Despite its junior standing, to drive this car is to experience that signature Packard feeling with slick, easy to operate controls and brimming with a feeling of quality. Wearing and older restoration, this 115 still presents very well. The metallic burgundy paint suits the car well and has recently been rejuvenated by our team. The paint is set accented with a tan cloth convertible top and coach stripe. The body is overall very good, with the attractive paint showing well. A small dent in the left quarter panel and misaligned door bottoms are the only detractors in an otherwise attractive package. The chrome exterior trim is complete and in very good order, with some minor pitting on the Goddess of Speed mascot, the hubcaps and a light patina on the majority of the brightwork.
A very strong interior makes for a delightful time behind the wheel. The tan leather seats (including rear jump seats) are in beautiful condition, showing very light use since being restored. The door panels and interior quarter panels are trimmed in matching leather and light tan carpets line the floors. The tan convertible top is excellent, with taut material and a zip-out glass rear window. The frame is in good working order and it latches easily in place with minimal effort. A custom fitted top boot in matching tan canvas is included. The dash is elegantly styled, finished correctly in woodgrained metal, with chrome rimmed instruments and a factory installed radio which remarkably still works. The steering wheel and interior brightwork show some patina but do nothing to detract from what is a wonderful driving example.
The 245 cubic inch L-head inline six runs particularly well, thanks to the addition of a correct, New-Old-Stock Carter WA1 Carburetor and fuel system overhaul. The engine starts readily and settles into a silky-smooth idle. 100 horsepower and prodigious torque make it an easy car to drive around down and it will easily keep up with modern traffic. This handsome and elegant Packard is fully serviced and ready for enjoyment. Thanks to its well-sorted mechanicals, it would make an ideal candidate for Packard Club touring or other similar driving events.
