1941 Packard Converible Street Rod Project
1941 Packard Packard Description
75% complete street rod project will be a high dollar one of a kind street rod when finished.
BODY
All steel body with chopped windshield and shaved door & trunk handles. One piece nose (welded fenders, hood, hood sides & grille shell with reinforcing tubular structure).Headlights molded into the fenders, filled side grilles and cowl vent removed.Polished stainless steel firewall and gas tank.Tilt and telescoping Cadillac steering column.Complete working convertible top frame with hydraulic cylinders and motor.Side window motors and glass channels are installed in the doors.Windshield wipers and motor installed.Complete new "Southern Air" air/heat/defrost system installed.Third brake light molded into the body above the trunk.
Body work on the car is excellent and has a beautiful paint job, but has some scratches and dings. Nothing major, but will need some minor body and paint work to be in show condition.
DRIVE TRAIN
5.3 litre (326 cu in) Jaguar V12-HE fuel injected motor. I believe that it is a 1983 or 1984 motor. I trailered the car to a specialist Jaguar mechanic, who checked out the motor, corrected some vacuum lines and did a complete tune-up. Runs smooth and there are no fluid leaks of any kind. The Jaguar mechanic said that he thinks it is a very low mileage motor with only one or two thousand miles on it.
I have added a custom air intake system and some dress-up to the motor.I have a fiberglass hood scoop, which I planned to paint body color and install as an engine cover. The transmission is a GM Turbo 400 automatic (factory installed by Jaguar in the 1980s).Rear differential is a "Dana" (again installed by Jaguar in the 1980s).Complete duel exhaust system.Electric cooling fan.
CHASSIS
An excellent job was done to modify the original frame to accept the complete Jaguar four wheel independent suspension. When you look at the chassis, you would think that it came from the factory that way.
Power steering and Jaguar four wheel disc brakes (master cylinder mounted under the floor ) with in-board rear brake rotors. I have replaced all of the calipers and brake pads with new.
New "KYB" front shock absorbers.
Class I or II trailer hitch.
Front suspension was lowered using spacers to lower the dish in the bottom of the front lower control arms and new shorter springs were installed.
PARTS THAT GO WITH THE CAR TO COMPLETE THE PROJECT

MAJOR PARTS STILL NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE CAR
TiresWindshield and side door glass.Convertible top fabric cover and rear window (glass and window frame).Weatherstrip.Steering wheel.Interior door handles.Emergency brake (calipers and cables are in place, so only a handle or electric pull is needed).
I bought the car from Florida, but I have a clean New Jersey title in my name. The car is located in a heated garage in Connecticut. The car starts, stops and steers, so it can be driven onto a trailer. This will be a one of a kind show car when completed. I am 70 years old and moving to Florida, so time has gotten away from me on this project. Therefore, I am selling it for much much less than has been invested! My name is Tom. Please call me at 860-201-5669 (home) or 860-483-2111 (cell), if you have any questions or want more information. This is a no reserve auction, so serious bidders only please.
