1956 Packard Description

For sale is a very nice original California rust free 1956 Packard 400 hardtop. This car was sold new in Bakersfield, California and that is where I found it. It is as dry as an old bone and as rust free of a car as you will ever find. The car still wears the selling dealership nameplate which I guess was a Packard dealership at that time in Bakersfield. The car runs extremely well and shifts propertly. The only mechanical issue was the power brake booster and I recently removed it and received a replacement rebuilt unit from Max Merrit Packard parts (I just got it...it comes with the car and it needs to be installed by the new owner). The paint is thin in some places with the original primer and or steel beginning to show. The interior is also original and should be refreshed. The pot metal is very nice and virtually pit free (a testament to having lived its life in a desert environment). The power windows work but the glass on the drivers side window has a crack and needs to be replaced. It is loaded with options including power steering, power brakes, power windows and power seat. The radio is present but someone (prior to me) removed the power antenna (it is in the trunk). I have also purchased NOS tail light lenses and reverse lenses (they come with the purchase of the car). This is a really cool Packard and the end of the line as Packard ceased (true Packard) operations in late 1956 and the Grand Avenue Plant in Detroit where this car was built was sold. If you have been looking for a really neat car needing a light restoration that is truly rust free....you need to come and see and drive this Packard. This is a special car in that it is a senior series car with the largest cubic inch displacement engine ever produced by Packard. As the car is more than 60 years old, it does not come with a warranty and is sold as is. We really want this car to go to a Packard enthusiast who can appreciate the car.
