This 1956 Packard 400 is one of the most desirable post-war Parkards there is with only 3,200 being produced. The car is clean but has been sitting awhileand always garaged and covered. When this car was brought in it ran well with good oil pressure prior to being turned off years ago. As you can see in the pictures there have been several areas the car has been tinkered with and there are a host of new parts ready for installation. The car is complete with only 73,000 original miles. The "Tuxedo" color combination of black and white was very popular in its day. The white portions were repainted in 2006. Some surface rust can be seen where the side trim was removed. Some more surface rust on the floor pan andspots at the fender bottoms. The car has been part of the collection at the Historic Packard Proving grounds, but they are running out of room and some projects must be passed on to someone else for completion.
Some of the interior work has been done but needs completion. The dash pad cover is new.The transmission has had new seals put in and the brakes were done and only need final adjusting. The torsion level suspension did work when the car was running, but a couple parts went to other cars and they will need to be purchased. I'm told they're readily available.
Add fresh black paint, re-do the seat surfaces (some material is included), new carpet, add a new exhaust system and the car is ready to go. Mostof the plating and stainless is in very good condition. All proceeds go to maintain the collection at the Packard Proving Grounds in Shelby Township Mi, and to the preservation and rehabilitation of the site. The car is ready for pick up and has a clear title. If you would like a closer look, please email the seller and arrangements can be made for an inspection prior to the end of the auction. This is great and very reasonable chance to own a piece of history, the last year for a true Packard!! We can help load onto a carrier/trailer if the car is purchased from someone out of the country, Good luck
