1939 Packard Business Coupe Model 1700
1939 Packard Model 1700 Description
Purchased this 1939 Packard business coupe model 1700 about 15 years ago being someone's abandoned restoration project. Having way too many other projects going on presently I will never get to do anything with this vehicle so am offering for sale in hopes someone will finish it. The odometer shows a little over 80K. When first purchased the Packard had no engine so I recently installed a remanufactured 6 cylinder engine which runs very well. The engine is actually a 1940 engine from a Packard 110 model. There are zero miles on the engine. Car has it's original 3 speed transmission with a new clutch disc, pressure plate assembly, throw-out bearing, pilot bearing and new ring gear as well. Has new master cylinder and all wheel cylinders have been rebuilt. Generator has new brushes installed recently, newly re-cored radiator at a cost of over $500. New Stromberg BXOV 26 carburetor. New windshield, glass with rubber weather-strip installed and the same for the rear windshield. Included in the sale is new glass for the rear quarter windows and door glass, just needs to be installed. There are some miscellaneous parts that come with the sale including a new set of interior door backer panels. This Packard runs very well, it starts, steers, drives, and stops. Has very nice nose, nice solid headlights and marker lights, front fenders, extremely straight grille. Floors, rocker panels and trunk floor are rot free, nice running boards too. Frame is close to being mint condition. Doors will need some attention especially the passenger side, has a hole which is shown in one of the photos. There is no wiring harness in the car as the previous owner removed, however there is wiring for the starting and charging system which is in working order. I do not have the front or rear bumpers, the new owner will have to hunt down a pair. All tires hold air, but are very old and will eventually need replacing. At the moment the engine runs from a fuel hose attached to a small gas can as I don't want to take a chance using the original gas tank as it has never been removed since I've owned it and really should be flushed out. Any questions please write. A non refundable $500 deposit is required within 48 hours via PayPal. Full payment within seven days by cash, certified bank check (will take time to clear) or via electronic bank transfer. Vehicle must be removed within two weeks otherwise contact me to make other arrangements. Please do not bid unless you have the permission needed to bid and most important the funds needed to purchase.
