1969 Plymouth Road Runner Description

UNUSUALLY OPTIONED ROADUNNER (DOCUMENTED PER TRIM TAG) FROM THE FACTORY WITH THE FOLLOWING: 383-V-8, FOUR-SPEED FLOOR SHIFTER, AIR-CONDITIONING, POWER STEERING, POWER DISC BRAKES, FOUR SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION, PREMIUM STEERING WHEEL, BUCKET SEATS, HEATER, AM RADIO, BACKLIGHTS, VINYL TOP, CARPETING, IN-DASH GAUGE PACKAGE. APPEARS TO BE A MATCHING NUMBERS FRAME-OFF RESTORED CAR. I CAN SEND PHOTOS TO SERIOUS BUYERS INCLUDING ALL OF THE STAMPED NUMBERS.

15” WHEELS AND TIRES AND UNDERDASH OIL PRESSURE GAUGE ADDED DURING THE RESTORATION.

Since my purchase of the car about 18 months ago, I have kept it in my heated/cooled garage. It has not been in the rain since my purchase and I only drive it on sunny days here in Texas. I am a car enthusiast and took very good care of this car while I had it.

PAINT AND BODY: I find the following minor issues: One small scratch on the underside of the rear fender, leading edge of front fenders and trailing edge of rear fenders have some paint wear due to the cover fitting too tight, right rear passenger side glass is scratched, one very small crack in the instrument panel clear plastic under the odometer and driver’s door needs adjustment for perfect alignment. Otherwise, it is as a frame-off car is expected to look like. I replaced some of the weatherstripping.

ENGINE/MECHANICAL: Even though this car appeared to be cosmetically nearly perfect when I purchased it, I am a perfectionist with my vehicles. My mechanic meticulously went over this car and attended to a list of issues needed to make it meet my requirements. This included over $6,000 in work such as replacing A/C condenser, hoses, drier, expansion valve, etc., replace speedometer cable and gear, replace water pump with Edelbrock unit, replace fuel lines, sending unit and fuel tank, install new radiator, install new brake pads and so forth. I have documentation on all work I had done to the car. Starting when cold is typical of this era of cars – you need to pump the gas a few times and it will sputter but once started, it runs smooth and cool. I use Carb Defender to counter the effects of the crappy gas we have to use.

INTERIOR: It appears that the interior was replaced during the restoration. No cracks in the dash, no rips in the upholstery and the headliner is excellent. All of the instruments on the dash work. The radio works.

SUSPENSION: I had to correctly align the rear sway bar to be square with the chassis. Now the suspension works properly. The wheels and tires appear to have been replaced during the restoration.

HISTORY OF THE CAR: I purchased this car from a dealer. I have the contact information for the previous owner as well as photos of the restoration. As you can tell from the photos, this was a high-quality restoration on a unique Roadrunner. Very few were produced (maybe one?) with this option combo; most people bought the GTX if they wanted A/C, carpet, etc.

I spent a lot of money making everything mechanically right on this car. I have receipts for all of the work performed on the car during my ownership. It is easy to find inexpensive classic cars that are shiny in photos on the Internet and then spend many thousands of dollars making them right after purchase. I did everything that needed to be done already. My reserve is less than I have in it.

SHIPPING: I will deliver the car to a purchaser or a pickup location for shipping within a 25-mile radius of Austin, Texas. Shipping will need to be arranged by the purchaser. Shipping to destinations within or out of the continental US must be arranged by the purchaser prior to such delivery. I can help load the car with the shipper of your choice.

THE QUESTION ALWAYS ASKED, “WHY AM I SELLING”? I have eight vehicles and it’s time to reduce the overhead. Then of course, I am a car guy who gets tired of whatever I have after a while. Your gain!
