1970 Cuda Barracuda 340 Vintage Air Wilwood Restored Restomod Show Car Mopar
1970 Plymouth Barracuda Description
1970 Plymouth BarracudaHigh Performance 340Automatic TransmissionFully Restored
This beautifully restored bright yellow Barracuda has recently been fully disassembled and given a year long restoration. The car is said to have a couple thousand miles on it since it was restored and that looks to be correct. I didn't build the car but we see a lot of cars pass through my shop and this is one of the nicer ones. I'll describe the car for what I know and have been told but again, I didn't build it so I'm giving you what I can see. First, I am a Texas dealer and will handle the transaction, if you are in Texas we will need to transfer the title into your name and you'll be responsible for the sales tax. The car has a clean Blue Texas title with no liens or bonds. If you are out of state I can simply UPS you the title after funds have been received. Funds, please secure the funds before bidding, it really messes things up when you think you can get financed or can borrow the money and win the auction only to not have the money. I prefer that you have an inspection done before buying the car, I can do a walkaround video and will put it on the lift so you or your inspector can see every inch of the car. I am an honest describer of the cars that I sell but it's always best to see it in person if possible. Now that all that is covered lets talk about this awesome car.
1970 Cuda, originally this was a 318 2 barrel car that was built in Hamtramck, MI. It now has a healthy 340 that is said to have only a few thousand miles on it, we recently performed a professional tuneup at my shop and added Gibbs Driven Oil, a K&N oil filter, spark plugs, set the timing, and went through the carburetor. The car starts up and runs great, runs a good temperature even with the AC on and has good power. The engine has a nice cam that lopes nicely, the intake is aluminum and the carburetor is a Carter. The headers sound nice through the full 2.5" exhaust however the bottom of the drivers side header has obviously rubbed the ground a few times (see pics). Behind the 340 is a 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission that shifts nicely, right on time and good smooth shifts. Out back is a 8.75" Chrysler rearend that if I had to guess has about a 3.23 gear ratio or so, I haven't checked it but it will run good down the highway or in town. Brakes, someone spent some money on the Wilwood brakes in the front, this is not their small basic kit but rather a 1500 dollar set of front brakes, the rear are still factory drum and they are power assisted through a factory type booster. The car stops great, just as it should. The suspension looks to be all factory type stuff, torsion bar and leaf spring and it all looks like it was replaced during the restoration, it has a nice ride. The car has a full GEN IV Surefit Vintage Air system that works as it should. This is a nice addition to the car and the engine is kept cool with a big Aluminum radiator and dual electric fans. The body of this car looks to be very solid, the underside has a nice smooth undercoating that accents the yellow very well, I can't find any rust and if there was any it was replaced well, no seams or weird overlaps like you'll see on an amateur floorpan job, it looks right under the car. You'll see a small drip of trans fluid if it sits for several days, very minor I just want to be honest about it. The trim work is nice on the car all chrome and stainless are in good condition as well as the glass. The staggered wheels and tires are a nice addition with wider rears at 18" and narrower fronts at 17".Paint and body work on this car is very nice, the lines are good, and the bodywork has been done very straight. The base coat/clearcoat shines nicely and looks great, all panels match in color which is tough with yellow. There are a few flaws that I'll point out, most are in the drivers side quarter panel, one small crack and a couple of minor bubbles on the front edge of the quarter, I'm not sure what's causing them but you have to look closely to see them. I'll add a quick video below that shows them.Overall, this is a very solid and well built car, the previous owner said that he had over a year in the restoration and had invested well over 90K in total which is easy to do in today's restoration world. I put the car at an honest 7.5 to 8 out of 10 overall, it's not a perfect show car but it's not some paint job on an old car, it has been restored fully and the pics show. I make myself available by phone to discuss the car, 469-387-9796 Michael
Checkout the video of the car, I'll add another later.https://youtu.be/QQSOBZfeL-M
