1966 Plymouth Satellite Convertible Mopar
1966 Plymouth Satellite Description
Here is a used 1966 Plymouth Satellite Convertible in very good condition. There are approx.140,000 miles on the vehicle and approx.25,000 miles on a completely rebuilt engine. The engine in the car is not the original engine, this engine was from a 1966 car and was rebuilt totally and then replaced the original engine. The original engine was never disassembled and is included in the sale of this car.I do not know whether Mopar vehicles utilized matching VIN's and engine numbers or not. This car was owned and driven regularly by my mother for approx.40 years. There has never been any body damage, there is no rust there are no dents, the sheet metal is exceptionally straight, there are however a couple of minor scrapes that can be seen in the photos.Approx.25 years ago, there was body work and repaint performed by a professional restoration facility.the quarter panels were replaced with rust free Texas panels and the lower portions of the doors and fenders had some work done and the trunk floors had some work done, how extensive I am unable to tell, however judging by the body lines of the car,I would have to say that the work was minor and as you are able to see from the photos, the hood and trunk are somewhat faded. Also, one can see that a few of the chrome trim parts have some minor pitting, but almost all moldings are in very good condition, including interior trim moldings. The top operates properly, but does show signs of wear and the top boot is showing signs of wear as well. The convertible top window is cloudy and would probably require replacement. The interior is in very good condition,no tears or rips, but the carpet is beginning to show some wear, but again no tears or holes. The spare tire/wheel is in the trunk, but it is very old.And the original seat belts were replaced with aftermarket belts. All accessories, lights and gauges work properly. The car is an excellent running car, uses no oil, leaks no oil and drives straight as an arrow on the road. The transmission shifts crisply, the steering does seem to be a bit loose at highway speeds,(maybe related to the steering gear, but I am not sure). The brakes are manual drum brakes front and rear and operate properly. The power steering system works properly.Tires are good, although I am unable to provide the mileage on the tires.Exhaust system is good. Also included with the car are parts that are shown in the photos and the original engine. Please bear in mind that this vehicle was a daily driver and does show signs of normal wear and usage. It was driven daily to work and on vacations,so it is by far no show car,but it has been an exceptionally well maintained vehicle.Any payment,be it cashier's check or cash will need to be scrutinized by my bank, they may wish to contact your bank to complete this transaction and I hope any buyers will be able to understand. I have described the condition of this vehicle to the best of my abilities, but I am no expert on this car,but I have presented all information that I am able to gather. Please note to anyone that has viewed this auction prior to 07/18.I have added information regarding body work because I have just recently been informed by someone familiar with the car of said restoration work besides the repaint 25 years ago. That work was not noticeable to me,due to the high level of the work performed by the restoration facility. Please feel free to ask questions and I will do my best to assist and as always,Thanks for looking,Mike.Additional info:both bumpers are in very good condition, the rear appears to be new or recently rechromed,(perfect finish),front is good, but the chrome is a bit hazy. Also found the original radio(Don't know if it works),the original factory service manual in great condition and what appears to be a reprinted owner's manual, all included.
