1961 Plymouth Fury sedan 61 SOLID running car V-8 A/C FLORIDA Forward Look
1961 Plymouth Fury Description
Extremely solid 61, no rust to speak of except a bit in the doglegs and under the accelerator pedal. Underneath is basically rust free. Factory paint is still on the trunk floor. Inner and outer quarters, rockers, wheel lips are all excellent. Originally the beautiful shade of Emerald Green, it has been sprayed a nasty darker green over the years. Chrome is surprisingly nice. Interior will need attention. Front door panels are in the trunk, as well as many more parts for it, and the factory wheel covers. I have done the fuel system, cleaned and lined the tank, carb is rebuilt, it runs very well. Cooling system has been flushed and radiator pressure tested. Factory A/C is complete, compressor turns on, but may need attention yet, as I have not charged it. New belts, valve cover gaskets, and I started cleaning, blasting, and refinishing parts under the hood as you can see. I really hate to sell her, but I'm working on my '58 Plymouth right now and something else has to go. I've also done new brake hoses, and have all six new wheel cylinders for it (I haven't done the wheel cyls yet). Once those are done, bleed the brakes and it's time for a maiden voyage! Hard parts are done. Transmission goes into drive and reverse well, fluid is red and full, and it yard drives fine. Driver's side torsion bar bolt is backed out for some strange reason, and will need to be tightened up. (it is not from rust). I think someone tried to lower it at one time and gave up. I have installed NOS backup light lenses AND housings, as well as NOS tail light lenses. Engine smokes a bit when you hit and let off the gas, so it MAY need fresh valve guides, although it is clearing up the more I run it. Paperwork is on order in my name. Car is a Florida car and never been up north in the salt. Try to find a cheap, solid forward look era car that you can be driving around with a weekend's worth of work!
