This may be your last chance to own an actual big block Trans Am, THAT ACTUALLY RUNS AND DRIVES WITH ONLY 79K MILES, without having to take a mortgage out to do so. I will say right up front that although the rest of the car SEEMS to match numbers wise, the 455 engine itself does not it is a 1973 XJ 455. The gentleman that owned it these last 25 years did state that he was the one to replace the engine many years ago and that it had multiple sought after details such as 4X heads, 2.11" valves, 1.66" exhaust valves and factory screw in studs. Overall, the body is in decent shape. There are areas that will need attention such as the floors but nothing is rotted to the point of non repair. To have the option of driving a vehicle such as this with a pedigree such as it has is a valuable bright spot in itself. Option wise, as many big block cars often were, it is largely bare bones. She has power brakes, steering and rear defroster but the focus was more on performance and less on bells and whistles. This monster was meant to dominate the street and what it has shown already with a few gallons of new gas alone has proven that. The cars interior was red and comes near complete short of it having black front seats. The lights, T/A gauge package and interior basics all work as they should and even the heat blows warm which was another great surprise. Factory wheels will come with the car which is a huge bonus as the period correct details have proven to be more and more difficult as of late to find.
The inside line on why I am letting this classic get put on the auction block is that I myself currently have various similar restorations in process. I myself am a huge Pontiac fan and know all to well what this car will bring as these classics continue to climb value and scarcity wise. At the behest of my better half I have decided to release my grasp on ONE big block car to allow someone else to get that fabulous rush one gets when they find something from their past that they thought was out of their reach forever. Make no mistake, regardless of the non matching numbered 455, this is a valuable opportunity to not only reclaim your youth but to enjoy bringing back a classic, gaining bragging rights at your local cruise nights and building a monetary nest egg for the future indirectly.
I have set my reserve relatively low and will be available at my body shop in Manchester NH by email and phone if need be. Good Luck, I hope I have opened up an opportunity for you to begin what I know is an interesting and worthwhile project in the coming months.
