1988 Pontiac Fiero Description

1988 Pontiac Fiero Automatic Not GT THIS IS NOT A RUNNING CAR

SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY. There are many details about the condition of the car listed: PLEASE READ ENTIRE AUCTION DESCRIPTION. This is a private sale and buyer’s remorse is not an option. This is a re-listing as two previous winning bidders failed to complete the purchase. We have had only one ’88 Fiero for sale and it has not been sold to another eBayer.

THIS IS NOT A RUNNING CAR. IT IS NOT A GT OR A RACING CAR. WE ARE NOT INTERESTED IN A TRADE OR BUY IT NOW.

Photo is of actual car: photos are not Photo-shopped or altered. Car looks very nice for its age and the fact that it has been sitting for several years but the finish is not Super Shiny and New. Descriptions are as accurate as humanly possible. Thank you for your interest.

WHY WE ARE RE-LISTING: What we think eBay bidders should know.

Winning bidder on previous auction backed out of sale citing paint on vehicle would need greater attention than he originally thought. Original auction listing was honest and clear about substantial paint wear, especially on top surfaces of the car. We feel it is very important to portray this vehicle's condition as honestly and accurately as possible. If you have any questions, we will be happy to answer them. This car has sentimental meaning for the sellers and we would like it to go to an appreciative home.

The particulars:

Auction is for Candy Apple Red 1988 Pontiac Fiero Automatic 2-door 2-seater purchased used in 1996 from the second owner. It was driven for 12 years accident free. After primary driver left California for grad school, car was driven only sporadically. Daily operation was not possible and it eventually was not driven. Car has been sitting, covered and uncovered, since late 2008.

Mileage: 112,654 original miles

Body Condition: substantial paint wear on top surfaces (hood, trunk and roof), recent crack in windshield, weather-stripping around driver’s side window frame partially missing, finish chipped around gas tank fill door; back Pontiac insignia incomplete (have pieces).

Interior: Upholstery primarily in good to excellent condition. Driver’s side upper seat has tear and lower seat has visible wear on side. Passenger seat upholstery in excellent condition as is all dashboard material and vinyl.

Mechanical: 4 cylinder automatic. Was running when parked. Has not been driven, but engine is free. Needs complete overhaul, battery and tires. Needs thorough cleaning and detailing.

NOTE: photos of the engine have been added.

Registration: Currently registered "Non Op" (Non Operating) and is not street legal.

When originally purchased, major overhaul and extensive replacement of all rubber was undertaken. Regular maintenance was continued until stored. All maintenance records included.

Auction includes Haynes repair manual and original owner’s manual.

This car has not been in an accident while in current ownership, but was backed into while parked. All repairs were completed by at fault driver’s insurance.

Photos:We have made every effort to accurately portray the vehicle's condition.

We are not dealers. This is a personal vehicle and comes AS IS without warranty, although we have described it to the best of our abilities. Vehicle is not in running condition and is not turn key. Buyer assumes all liability for licensing, registration, and repairs.

Buyer to pay in cash or by Cashier’s Check ONLY.

Vehicle is to be picked up locally by buyer. Removal to be made within one week of auction end unless otherwise arranged with seller.

We will not release vehicle to just a transporter. We recommend transporting on flat bed carrier or other car carrier that keeps tires off road. Tires hold air for short time only.

We have cancelled one listing for this car after bidding ended because winning bidder examined the car and backed out because he expected the paint to be able to be buffed. Paint condition was accurately described in the auction listing and also during conversation with winning bidder. Decision to back out was not discussed with us and buyer left without paying or announcing either his arrival at residence or his departure. We cancelled the bid. We did not report bidder as a non-paying buyer.

Second listing resulted in buyer who did not read the description and expected a running car. Initially promised to respect the eBay process and complete the transaction, making appointment to pick up car. Bidder did not cancel the appointment but backed out without discussion or communication during the day appointed for completing the purchase. We filed a non-paying buyer report.

Winning bidder is expected to abide by contract and complete the purchase of this vehicle. It deserves an informed, honest and responsible owner. Please be respectful of us as sellers.

Thank you for your interest in this beautiful car. We will answer all questions until last twenty-four hours of the auction.
