1962 Pontiac Catalina Description

This is a very cool old Pontiac Catalina super duty clone. I have owned this car twice. Sold it, missed it, and bought it back. Time to sell again. I need to thin out the garage.
This car came from the dry high desert area of Oregon. You can see from the underside pictures that it is very clean and dry. The body is straight and solid. The paint is not show quality, but still very nice. All of the chrome and stainless steel trim is in nice original shape. Glass is all good and rolls up and down as it should. The right front fender was replaced at some point and is missing the Catalina script, but I have an original one in very good shape, and 421 side badges, that come with the car. It is very tight. No rattles, weird noises, water / wind leaks, etc.
The interior is super nice. Hand stitched with a very high quality vinyl. I also have the original steering wheel and column that are in very nice shape. The shifter is a very expensive one by TCI that has a line lock button on it. It does have front brake line lock.
The drive line consist of a balanced and blue printed 455 with a Performer high rise intake, a super high lift cam, full length tube headers, full exhaust with dumps that can opened up easily. Stock rear end with a Fabcraft Pro-Built Trophy Track Posi center section. 31 Spline and 3.64 gears. The center alone was over $2,000. The trans is a 400 turbo and has just been rebuilt with a 2800 stahl converter.
The man that originally built the car used to drive it to the race track, switch out the rear tires with slicks, drag race it for the day, switch the tires back, and drive it home. That is how reliable this car is, and it runs on premium pump gas just fine.
If you look up Byron Drag Strip Meltdown Drags for 2018 on you tube, you will see me making 5 passes with the car. It will run in the mid 8s in the 1/8 mile and mid 12s in the quarter mile all day long.
Al in all, this is a great car that you can drive to your local cruise night, do fantastic burn outs, and / or take to the track for some real excitement.
