1981 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 37471 Miles Black Coupe 4.9L V8 3-Speed Automatic
1981 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Description
The end of a significant era in the automotive world was in 1981 when the Firebirds 2nd generation F-body was finally being retired. The long standing 13yr run had endured the gas crunch and multiple styling changes. This year was marked with some great features and this specific car had just about all of them.
This very well preserved and documented 1981 Pontiac Trans Am with the WS6 package is in gorgeous shape and is highly original for the next owner to enjoy. Sold new in Brighton, Michigan out of Waldecker Pontiac where it remained till 2008 then was sold a couple more times till we received the car from the 4th owner. Car was very nicely optioned with the standard equipment of a Trans Am with the 4.9L V8 with 4BBL engine. Power brakes, bucket seats, power steering and floor console. Factory features in addition were; body side moldings ($44), A/C ($560), heavy duty battery ($22), rear defroster ($107), cruise control ($132), soft-ray glass ($75), QTZ tungsten halogen headlamps ($27), additional insulation ($34), lamp group that gave you luggage compartment light, glove box, i/panel lights ($33), front and rear floor mats ($25), right hand vanity mirror ($7), power door locks ($93), power windows ($140), rear speakers ($23) tilt steering wheel ($81), and cont cycle wipers ($41). This completed the basic options – the real meat and potatoes of this car are the following two packages. Rare T-Top vehicle as well that function perfectly and the ultra-low miles that show on odometer are believed to be accurate.
Y84 Special Edition Package that gave you the black paint, special gold interior and exterior appointments, screaming chicken hood decal, and hatch roof panels. This was a $1430 option and made up over 10% of the cost of the entire car. The other awesome package is the WS6 Special Performance Package that gave you; cast aluminum deep dish painted wheels, front and rear disc brakes, limited slip differential, and the special handling package. Price of this option was $350 but very few were optioned with all the above which makes this a very unique and special last year Firebird Trans/Am.
Vehicle drives very nice and test drive was fun and revealed a great handling and performing car that had working gauges, windows, locks, A/C, and lights. Radio was buzzing, but could not pickup a AM or FM station during our drive. Brand new tires just installed and fresh ceramic coating on the paint just in the past 10 days. Vehicle comes with clean title, factory MSRP $12,057, build sheet, order spec sheet/invoice from selling dealer, clean CarFax, 1981 Pontiac brochure, and a Firebird guide book.
