1973 Pontiac Grand Prix Model J Description

Vintage Motorcars is very proud to present this beautiful white with white vinyl top and red interior, 1973 Pontiac Grand Prix Model J. This car is easily considered excellent condition inside and out. She runs perfect with no mechanical issues whatsoever. Showing only 103,000 original miles; that’s less than 2,400 miles per year! The 1973 Grand Prix’s are becoming VERY hard to find and you will be hard pressed to find another one in this cosmetic and mechanical condition, with this very sought after color combination.

The Exterior

The car was repainted a few years back by the previous owner in its original factory white and still looks great. Recently wet sanded and buffed to a high gloss and looks gorgeous! Virtually no rust whatsoever on any body panels. Just one small spot showing some bubbles on the passenger side lower molding just behind the front wheel well. Very easy fix if you want, but they have been there for years and are not getting any worse. No rotted bumpers or floors or wheel wells. No dings, dents, scratches or any major blemishes. One small nick on the top of the trunk which is so small you can’t see it from 5 feet away. Touched up with perfect matching paint. All the chrome is in very good condition showing very nice patina. Shine is very good. No rust or dings or scratches on the front or the rear bumpers and all the original bumper rub strips are in place. The vinyl top is new. The pictures really tell the story. The car is simply beautiful.

The Mechanicals

This Grand Prix has the original Pontiac 400 CU V8 (rated originally at 230 HP in 1973) and matching transmission. It runs and starts perfectly. No hesitation at all when you punch it! I was told it has only had Mobil 1 Synthetic oil used since it had 20,000 miles and was recently changed with Mobil 1. It has a Flowmaster dual exhaust and has that awesome muscle car rumble to it. I was told the transmission was rebuilt at some time. It performs flawlessly. It shifts through all the gears perfectly. Very smooth! I can’t even feel it shift through the gears. No leaks or any smoking of any kind.

The BF Goodrich Radial TA’s are in new condition. The car received new shocks and bushings all the way around in June 2016. The brakes work great, and have been thoroughly checked. The AC system is brand new and is COLD! The heat works great. All the interior, trunk, dash and headlights work great as well as the horn, wipers and original AM/FM stereo. The front speaker works great and the rear speakers were just replaced with original OEM 6X9 rear speakers. All working perfectly. Even the power trunk release button works great! Everything works except the windshield washer squirters. Just needs a new washer pump if you want to get it working again. I don’t care as it never goes out in the rain or gets dirty. The wipers work just fine on both low and high speeds.

The car drives great with no hesitations in acceleration. It stops on a dime with no pulling. No pulling when driving down the road. No rattles! No disappointments! These are very hard to find now-a-days and getting harder to find in this condition.

The Interior

The red interior is in very good condition. The seat backs are perfect, the vinyl all looks beautiful. Carpet is in excellent condition. Some minor wear on the driver side door panel but nothing that takes away from the look of the car. No strange smells. It doesn't appear to have been smoked in. Headliner and sun visors are perfect and original! Seats are almost perfect; just some minor wear along the top right side of the passenger seat which is maybe an inch long. Not ripped…just some wear. On the drivers seat a minor tear on the bottom portion on the side where the vinyl is. Otherwise, the seats look perfect. For a 43 year old car, the interior is amazing!

NO cracks or wear on the dash and all the glass is perfect!

All the gauges work perfectly. Even the clock and the cigarette lighter still works! Amazing!!!

This really is a beautiful car that you can get into without breaking the bank, and have just as much fun at the local car show or cruise night as the guy that spent $40,000! This is a great way to get started in the classic car scene, or just to have a classic driver that is reliable and cool!
