I am selling my 1979 Porsche 911 SC with a ’84 3.2 liter Carrera motor.
It is a California car with zero rust. De body is straight, has even panel gaps and has no dents or scratches. The paint is a few years old and shows orange peel, and looks great from a few feet away, but up close you can spot imperfections. The color of the car is a deep red, not very common on Porsches and definitely an eye catcher.
This is not a concourse car, rather a weekend driver and that is exactly what I have been doing with it. This summe, I put around 2,500 miles on it with no issues whatsoever. I did trips to Wisconsin and Michigan with it, some of them with the family. For that purpose, I added lap belts in the back.
Since the motor has been rebuilt, about 3,000 miles have been put on. The odometer says 193,500 now. The car pulls strong throughout all the gears, and down shifting is smooth. Check the build list to see what has been renewed or rebuilt.
As far as comfort goes, the car has working A/C and heat, as well as a well-functioning sunroof. The front seats are from an RS America, so they are cloth and very supportive.
It has power windows that work well and all interior lights function. The spare tire has never been used. It has the original toolkit and the pump to inflate the tire.
Since this is a California car, it has the catalytic convertor to pass smog regulations. Living in Illinois now, I thought about removing it, but I was told that taking it off wouldn’t do much to improve performance for normal street use. The car has a nice growl to it with the current exhaust, but it does not draw a lot of attention from noise.
Shifting is smooth. It is the 915 transmission with a 5 speed. No leaks under the car at all, as mentioned above, it has only 3,000 miles on the rebuild. It’s rated from the factory around 230 hp with a weight of around 2,800 pounds.
The car comes with original Fuchs wheels. Fronts are 16x7, rears are 16x9, giving it a very nice stance. Tires have 3,000 miles on them, Dunlop Direzza’s. 205 front, 225 rear.
