1994 Porsche 968 Base Convertible 2-Door Description
This is the second time, I am listing my 1994 Porsche 968 convertible for sale. Please be a RESPONSIBLE BUYER as I am a RESPONSIBLE SELLER. I made an error on the listing which I could not change so I relisted the car. Car is listed locally and auction can be pulled anytime.
I am selling this Porsche to finance a 911 purchase. This is the newest and quickest Porsche that I have ever owned. I really enjoy driving it. People give me compliments and ask if it's a new model when I pull into the gas station. It is a rare car in that it is a 968 which replaced the 944, was only imported in limited numbers-less than 4500 cars. It is a very fast 3.0 4-cylinder engine that sounds good. I has a 6-speed transmission.
I am a Porsche Club of America (PCA) member. I will mention everything I know about the car.
Car has had nearly $2000 worth of work recently. It has had a new fuel pump, a new fuel pump relay, a new fuel filter, a new oil filter, new synthetic Mobil One Oil (Porsche recommended). The battery have also been replaced. It has snow tires on the front, but i have put a set of good used standard Dunlap tires on the rear with new tire valves. all the lights work the way they are supposed to as do the windshield wipers. It has new windshield wiper blades. The power locks work and have a blinking light on the door locks and the car has a security system. The leather is not torn on the driver's or passenger's seat, but interior carpet would use some cleaning. The key is not an original key, but a copy and fits, the doors, ignition, glovebox and trunk.
The driver's window motor does not work. Odometer no longer works, but It is not the switch, it is the motor. One headlight does not retract when you turn the headlights off. I just push it down by hand after I park the car. The car will need brake pads soon according to my European auto specialist. The hand brake mechanism works like it should, but the adjusters are frozen, so it cannot be adjusted. I just park it in gear. One of the 16'' wheels has curb rash, but hold air fine. The canvas top is in good shape, but needs the rear window replaced. I have mended it with packing tape. I just keep the top down all summer anyway with the original canvas boot on. The top bow was manufactured with cheap pot metal and often breaks under the stress of the strong power top motors. They have been braced with metal, but that part could use replacing. I have disengaged the power top motors (they do function) and just put the top up/down manually. It is quicker and much easier. This is very common for 968 cabriolets. Though it's not shown in the interior photo, I have the top to the middle console. It needs a new plastic hinge, they sell a kit for like 20-30 dollars to replace the hinge only. The gas gauge doesn't work and believe that it could be the sending unit. The car suffers from cosmetics as the guards red paint and clear coat are peeling. The front plastic facia has sun damage. The bottom of the front spoiler was removed since all the grille mesh was torn. It is included as is the spare tire, tool kit, and original owners manual.I am not the original owner of the car. I have no history on the car except that the former owner was an honest used car salesman who enjoyed the car for years and bought it after it was donated to a local charity. The car has a standard title in Virginia that is free and clear of liens. The car is registered to me. At come point, according to ebay, it had a salvage title. It does not now. At some point an insurance company must have totaled the car for whatever reason according to ebay: October 31, 1995 CT salvage title, November, 16, 1995 CT, rebuilt/rebuildable title November 27, 2001 Norwalk, CT, and rebuilt/rebuildable title June 25, 2003 Gross Pointe, MI. I wasn't aware of this until ebay brought it my attention and this is the reason for relisting. Presently, the car has a CLEAR Virginia title as I said. It has an aftermarket stereo and amplifier located in one of the storage areas behind the passenger seat. I don't have the speakers hooked up as I like listening to the engine when I drive it. This trans shifts smoothly into all six gears and reverse. no popping out of gear. cruise control doesn't work.Shipping is the buyer's responsibility and deposit is non-refundable and payment in full must be paid within 3 days of auction end. I can hold onto the car for you for a reasonable amount of time. If you have any questions, please let me know. I can get more photos as well. Just don't wait until the last minute. Five 4 zero-358-zero three three zero is my phone number if you need to contact me directly. I am a private party, not a dealer. Keep in mind I am on EST.
