1989 Porsche 944 Base Description

1989 Porsche 944 NA (non-turbo) for sale. Old and neglected. Might need to be scrapped, but it does have the big valve head the racing guys like. The engine has about 190,000 miles on it (estimate - odometer doesn't work) but I serviced it properly all the years I drove it. The engine runs just fine for short periods, but this car has developed the dreaded unfindable electrical short disease. It will start and run for a few miles and then stop. Its not overheating. It just stops. I let it cool of for 10 minutes or so and then it will start right up and run another few miles. It has good tires on it and another almost unused set, as well. It has new front pads but at least one of them is dragging. It’s never been wrecked, except for once when I got frisky on the street and jumped a curb and had to replace a tie rod and a wheel. That caused slight damage to the left front apron, which has not been repaired. The left power window does not work.

3 or 4 years ago I drove this car on an 8,000 mile semi lap of America - Alabama North to both Dakotas then Southwest through Montana to Southern California then back East to Alabama. It was an absolute joy to drive until it developed the electrical problem and then I got mad at it and just let it sit.The ECU was rebuilt by ECU Doctors in Florida just before that trip.

The car has been mostly sitting up for two or three years, although I occasionally charge the battery and start it. I will start it for you when you pick it up. The interior is damp and moldy. If I would redo the seats and clean up the interior and fix the electrical short I would not be afraid to take off for another 8,000 mile trip, but I can't find the short and am mad at it now and have given up. I just want it gone.

You'll have to bring a trailer to Gulf Shores, Alabama to pick it up.
