This 1986 Porsche 928S was purchased by it's current owner in February 2002 from a classic european car dealer in Florida.
The current owner drove the car every day, as a daily driver, for his first 4 years of ownership, then became a weekend vehicle still seeing regular use until 2007. From that point until 2012, it sat unused at which point it was sent to a Porsche specialist for repairs and maintenance after sitting idle. It was used very briefly and again sat until 2016 and was again sent to a Porsche specialist to bring it back up. This time, though, the owner has decided to sell the car.
The vehicle has had substantial investment made to bring the vehicle up to a safe drive-able condition.
Conversely, it has a large number of mostly electrical related issues that are more than a nuisance to the daily use of the car.
Major items replaced in 2012 and 2016 include key items for reliable operation
at a $6,450 expense:
Timing Belt Service
Timing Belt Tensioners
Water Pump
Rear Camshaft Seals
CV Axle Boots
Brake Hoses
Fuel Pump
Steering Rack Boots
Tie Rods
R&R of the popup headlights
Tires are basically new
Fresh fluid flush/changes
Service receipts available here:
Black Forest Racing - May 31 2016 $1,789
Exclusive Motorwerks - Feb 2012 $2,612
Exclusive Motorwerks - April 2012 $2,051
While the engine and transmission are in respectable condition, as is the bulk of the running gear under the car, exterior, and tires/wheels, a number of other minor to major issues remain with the vehicle.
These are items I've verified as not or only intermittently working.
Blower motor intermittently works
A/C does not work
Power windows no longer work (though most parts were replaced in 2012)
Sunroof attempts to move but is stuck
Fuel gauge intermittently reads correctly.
Voltage gauge intermittently reads correctly
Serious leather shrinkage on the dash as well as cargo area panels
The bulk of the dash warning lamps are illuminated or do so intermittently
A very important item:
We will state the mileage as correct within approx 50 miles, the odometer stopped working in the last approx 50 miles (while test driving and bringing it back up to drive-able state.)
The speedometer, tachometer, oil pressure gauge appear to consistently work correctly and accurately.
Because of the age and issues present, though the mechanical condition of the car represents well, we recommend shipping this car - unless you are within 200 miles of less driving distance and mechanically inclined - even so, the windows don't roll down and the air conditioner doesn't work, it gets hot quickly in the cabin.
To give you accurate information to judge this vehicle by we have supplied over 70 photographs below
as well as a 6 minute video walk around, and test drive:
