owned for the last 4 years.
Interior
-Floors had few rust area which were plazma removed and steel welded in to complete repair correctly.
afterwards seam sealed and epoxy coated.
-interior floors have been dynamat sound proofed front and rear section completely to help with road noise insulation. at a cost of about $500 in materials.
-all new marine grade uv resistant black carpet was installed (cost $420 in materials)
-front and rear door panels all new. again in black (cost $350 to get done)
-new seats (cost of $700)
-car is a RARE factory power window equipped model. (new switches were installed old one where giving issues. (cost $50 to do)
-set of aluminum pedal covers installed (cost of $45)
-aluminum shifter knob and parking brake installed (cost of $80)
-complete shifter linkages bushings etc all replace. and urethane used when possible (cost of $55)
-headlight switches all replaced (cost of $60)
Exterior
-all these cars have rotted out seals which let water in. I replaced every part with factory units from brazil very hard to get and expensive (cost to me almost $2000)
which include windshield, rear glass, doors and side windows.... all new
-wiper arms re done in factory black with new wipers (cost of $40)
-front headlights both new and working (cost of $40)
-rear tail lights brand new from Brazil.(cost of $400)
-rare factory sunroof which you can tilt or remove fully.
-original magnesium rims which were re finished years ago in factory black with polished lips on 235/60/14 rear and 195/70/14 front tires
-these gti models were equipped with front disc and rear drum
I have installed all new front calipers, brake rotors, pads, rubber flex lines, dot 4 syn fluid and wheel bearings (cost about $500)
-suspension is lowered it could use new ball joints/tie rods. I priced these out they range ball joints are about $14 each etc
Engine
factory 1.6L. (1600cc 4cyl) .This car is with dual carb set up to help up the HP.
Had a fuel pump fail few weeks ago but was able to get a brand new replacement unit last week and car is now up and running again.
I rate this car as good condition and a fun project.

FAQ last few days
Q: does the car have rust on the body?
A: the body is fiberglass so will not rust and the floors have been repaired as listed
Q: is the paint perfect condition?
A: no this is not a new car and has front stone chips, minor spider crack etc
Q: Is this a kit car?
A: no this is not
Q: where do I get parts?
A : since we are now in 2018 internet really is our best friend and getting parts is easy.
one of my favorite is (cip1) in Canada they have free shipping too
Q: I am looking to buy a car and put no extra money into it.
A: used classic car is not for you.
Q: is the car safe to drive to long distance?
A: No idea this has been a car I have not plated so can't comment.
Q: is the car sold certified or does it need work?
A: car is sold as is. as you all have read what I have done so far. next on my list I noticed needing repair is
1- I noticed front tie rod/ball joint have some play and are needed to be safety pass. I priced these out fromcip1.comand they are very cheap items say under $50
2- 1 of the licence plate light bulbs is burnt out which is easy fix but needed for safety to pass
3- horn not working new is $20-$30 again needed to pass safety inspection.
4- clutch slipping at times
5- tires are old
6-battery needs boost to start up car
