Replica of SS-100 Jaguar produced mid-1980's by Classic Roadsters of Fargo, ND as the "Duke". This car was factory assembled, not an amateur kit build. Fiberglass body in cream and brown over Chevrolet chassis, 4-cyl 1.6L engine, 4-speed manual transmission, rear wheel drive. New tires on genuine chrome wire wheels. All fluid and maintenance items serviced and up to date including brakes, battery, tune-up . New Holley 2-bbl carburetor. The car starts and runs strong and needs nothing to enjoy it right now. 11,200 miles since built.
Keep in mind that this is really a vintage car and not a freeway cruiser. While it will easily do 70 mph, it is most enjoyed like all English roadsters of that era to take a leisurely drive around town or on a twisty country road with the top down. I have used this car as a daily driver around town and country in fair weather.
The manual convertible top is in good condition and has a plastic rear window plus two zip-in side curtains for cool weather. The included boot covers the top when folded down. The heater and defrosters work well. All lights and gauges are in working order. The radio is a face-plate only and is non-functional. One could add a radio as there is wiring for speakers and a retractable antenna. There is a chrome front bumper as seen in one of the pictures but is currently removed for appearance. The vintage-look "trunk" on the rear rack is used to carry incidentals like the boot or a tarp, and is easily removed. Saddle leather seats and carpet in perfect condition. A storage area behind the seats includes tire jack and tools. The dual side mounts contain old but serviceable spare tires.
The body is in good condition overall with few minor blemishes. The finish is still fairly shiny and I believe would really come out with a professional detailing and buffing. The windshield frame has some pitting corrosion as seen in some closeups. I have been unable to identify a replating shop thus far to have it refinished, and that is the only real detraction from otherwise excellent appearance. As stated, the car gets all the attention you can handle, and is a car show class ribbon winner.
I believe the car was originally bought by an Oregon owner. It made its way to California. I purchased it in 2012 in Long Beach and brought it to Colorado where I have worked to restore its condition. I have clear title and registration available to transfer to buyer. Car is titled as a 1959 Austin Collector Vehicle to facilitate inflexible DMV requirements because there was no production VIN on the car.
Pricing is based on investment and comparable sales. A red example of this same Classic Roadsters Duke just completed sale on May 25 as eBay item 152095666682 for $10,001.
