Studebaker AVANTI / 1963 SR II / Supercharged / First Year
1963 Studebaker Avanti Description
Studebaker AVANTI / 1963 SR II / Supercharged / First Year THIS IS A VERY RARE and LOW MILEAGE, ALL ORIGINAL VEHICLE. This car is the perfect candidate for a serious collector who wants restore an amazing, original example one of these First year models. This is Number # 721 off of the assembly line, and was an ordered vehicle that was delivered through the infamous Dealership of Newman & & Altman from South Bend Indiana. The owners of that dealership were the sole U.S. Distributor of both Studebaker & Avanti Motor Cars. Newman & Altman then went on to buy the Avanti Plant from Studebaker, and operated it until the late 70's when that plant was re-sold. The Odometer reads 2,325 Miles. Original 289 Studebaker Supercharged car with an Automatic 3 speed transmission, with a 3.73 rear end. This car was ordered new by and delivered to a Doctor from Ohio in 1963. I believe it was an early build in late 1962. The Avanti never had a re-design of it's body lines in it's entire 20 year run. This car has been in and around my sphere for almost 40 years. I have been getting it back up and running to to bring into sale-able status. It is now drive-able with no effort. It has what I believe to be the original tires on it that were delivered with the car, they are date coded back to @1963 and are same brand of the tire that Avanti used from the factory. I have the original locking Gas CAP, with keys, the original ignition key, ALL THE CHROME ON THIS CAR IS PERFECT.!!! 100%. A RARITY In the Avanti World, There is Absolutely NO pitting of the bright-work. * THE INTERIOR IS 100% original and in AMAZING CONDITION. That is why I believe the mileage is either accurate, or very close to that. The paint may not be original as this car's paint is checked and also has minor spider-webb cracking in various places around the body. It would need a paint job to be restored properly. The Motor and Automatic transmission in Great running & operating condition, as is the Paxton Supercharger. Because of it's many years of Storage, ( was stored upo on a Lift indoors a heated garage).... I would recommend that someone freshen up the motor, install all new brake lines, and gas lines etc. I did have the Gas Tank dropped and cleaned out, all the way through the fuel lines up to and including the carbuerator to rid the system of any of the Old remaining fuel. The car starts runs and drives excellent. The carbuerator ( although new) still may need some adjustments. This is an amazing specimen of a SR II,a virtual time capsule. Again, it has all the original parts on it, spare parts in the trunk including a spare drivers side mirror, and spare hubcaps. All the interior light buttons are in amazing condition, and the console / shifter are awesome condition as well. There is No Fogging or cracking of any of the bake light on the steering wheel, or gauges or knobs. The interior carpets are nice. Both the front and rear windshields are in perfect shape as well. It currently has all Four original hubcaps on the car. *** I believe that this might be the original or actual mileage as the interior reflects that mileage. My mechanic thinks it may not be the original mileage but has stated clealry he does not know differently. *** Either way, it reads 2,325 miles on the odometer now, and has since I have known of this car back in 1981. The Paxton Supercharger was rebuilt in Santa Monica California at PAXTON back in 2009. There is too much history to leave it all to this listing. If you are Serious Potential Buyer and would like to gather more information, I am old and I use a Phone. PLEASE....NO E-Mails. !!
