U I purchased this Avanti 4 years ago. I was told it had an R3 Engine but it does not. It does have the R3 Air Box, Valve Covers, Headers, Aluminum Intake, Oil Pan Breather Pipe and Air Breather in front of radiator. The Block Serial Number is R1456. I don't know anything about the Engine. I was told it has R3 Valves. It does run and the Supercharger works. The gas tank was cleaned and sealed. New metal fuel lines from tank to fuel pump. Carburetor needs to be cleaned and accelerator pump replaced. Should drive onto transport truck alright. I drove it off of a transport truckand onto a trailer when I bought it. I havedeveloped heart trouble and need bypass surgeryso now Iam selling it.
The body needs cracks repaired and repainted. The originaldoors had power windows which are expensive to repair so they were replaced with the white doors that have manual windows. The doors need to be aligned as they drag on the bottom when being closed. Thereis no frontbumper with the car. the last 2 pictures are of an Avamti that someone restored without the bumpers. They are not of this car. I only included them to show howwell this car can look. There is an oil leak at the rear of the engine, possibly from setting for several years. The cost of the R3 Air Box was $400, Intake $375, Headers $375 down piles $90. The R2 brackets and Paxton Superchargerwould cost about $1800.(Total $3050) in parts. The 4 speed shift handle needs to be aligned as it hits the left side when shifted to reverse. Hurst may sell a handle made for the Avanti. The 4 speed is the most popular Avanti.
The right side hog trough needs some repair where the weep hole was. The left looks okay. The bottom of the frame on the left rear has rust on the thin bottom plate.
The Vin. number on the right frame plate is R3623.
The head casting numbers are 535976. There is a set of Hubcaps for the car. No extra parts come with the car. What is shown in the pictures is what you get.
