1956 Studebaker Transtar Barn Find Rust Free 23k Actual Miles Original Condition
1956 Studebaker Transtar Description
I bought this truck out of Southern Missouri where it was owned, driven and eventually parked its entire life. It’s a 1 Owner truck where it was registered to the Bates Family Farm. The story as I was told is this truck was purchased new as a company vehicle and barely left the farm other than some trips into town for work purposes. The surviving family members state that the miles are actual at 23k. I was also informed that the truck is 100% original and no accidents or bodywork done ever. In my professional opinion I would say that this is an accurate statement judging by our inspection of the vehicle. This truck is completely bone stock with zero modifications. I personally transported this truck from the farm in Missouri back up to Iowa. It sat in a barn for several years without being driven. a flathead 6 cylinder with a 3 on the tree manual transmission. When I got it back to Iowa I had the following done-rebuilt the starter-replaced the brake master cylinder- replaced the battery- replaced the ignition points and condenserAfter doing this the truck fired right up without hesitation. It runs exceptionally smooth. Unbelievable really considering the age of the truck and how long it sat. I made it a priority to keep this truck as close to the condition I found it with the goal of just getting it running and driving. Other than what I mentioned above I cleaned it the best I could while taking great caution as to not disrupt the originality of this truck leaving the incredible patina and the original company lettering intact. I even left the old tires in place giving the new owner the option to pick his or her rubber of choice. The tires are very old but still in brand new condition with 100% tread left. The original full size spare is sitting in the truck bed as well. All trim and every part seems to be present as far as I can tell. The engine is fully stock and runs incredibly well. It fires right up with out having to gas it first and stays running on its own weather the truck is warmed up or not. I’ve never seen an old vehicle runs so well after sitting so long with minimal service being done to it. This truly is a special truck. The body and all panels are super straight. Both doors open and close with ease. The gaps are perfect. As you can see from the pics the door jams and hinges are super clean with no rust. The body itself is rust free even along the bottom of the truck. The interior is super clean as well. The dash is free of any cracks. The seat looks good but it is original so the material is brittle in some spots. As to be expected the weatherstripping is well..weathered. The dash is very clean and all knobs and parts are intact. The floor does have some surface rust in a few spots and there is 1 rust hole I pictured below. That is really the only place I could find any real rust other than some surface rust in a few small areas. The truck bed is super solid with zero holes showing only surface rust. I thought about cleaning all that up with some steal wool or sand paper but decided against it. Like I said the body is super straight and no sign of any body work. There’s a few small dings and dents consistent with farm use but nothing too crazy and absolutely no collision damage. This truck is a great example of an original low mile driver. I wanted to keep it as original as possible for the new owner so you will want to replace all fluids and the tires before driving this truck at any lengthy distance. I put a very low reserve on this auction to guarantee a sale. I’m not looking to waste anyone’s time including my own here. Good luck bidding and I hope this amazing vehicle goes to a good home. It’s deserves it!FYI...I have around 100 pics I can email to any interested parties. EBay only allowed me to upload 24 pics. I’d be happy to send detailed pics of anything on this truck if requested.
