1973 Toyota Other Carina Description

i am selling this car for my brother and the car is in Santa Maria, California.
this is my brothers story:
I am reluctantly selling my 1973 Toyota Carina with a 2TG engine and 5 speed trans. This has been my project for many years. My first car was a Carina. I have invested an incredible amount of time and money into this car. It took me years of looking to find a car worth saving. This car has never had damage beyond some minor dings. I purchased it from the son of the original owner who had stored it for 17 years with the intent of restoring it for his son. The son lost interest in the car and he decided to sell it. It came with a parts car that has A/C. The parts car is rusted and can’t be saved. It is mostly complete and can be used for parts to complete my car and as a guide when it comes to assembly. The parts car did not come with paperwork, but my car does. They are both automatic cars, but my car comes with a low miles 2TG engine and 5 speed transmission. I have also purchased a pedal assembly to convert my car to a manual transmission.
My 2TG is still a low miles motor. I was told when I purchased the motor and trans that it had been used for a short time due to smog issues. The motor is illegal to have in a car later than a 1975, but my car is exempt in CA. When I took the oil pan off the 2TG to put my 2TC pan on it (the 2TG pan hit the crossmember), I was amazed at ho0w clean the oil pan was. Everything that I have inspected on the motor supports what I was told about the engine. The water pump is still tight and smooth and the engine turns over like butter. The motor has NEVER been apart (besides the oil pan). I took the trans to be checked out by a friend and it was left outside. The input shaft has some surface rust on it, but nothing that can’t be cleaned up. The bell housing has a small piece cut out of it that won’t affect its function. I have no idea what happened there. The original clutch fork, clutch and pressure plate comes with the car as well. I have purchased lots of weather stripping for the car on ebay. I could not find trunk rubber or quarter window rubber, but the original quarter window rubber is still OK and I think the universal trunk rubber should work fine. There is additional rubber for other Toyotas that I purchased to get the pieces that I needed. In addition, the car comes with many new spare parts such as the master cylinder, brake shoes, wheel cylinders brake pads, caliper rebuild kits, etc. It still has the original toolkit, manuals, and paperwork. I found some 14” alloys and started polishing them. The wheels’ outer lips came out great, but I hadn’t decided whether to polish or paint the rest, so they are still original. I have all of the center caps. I just bought 4 new Sumitomo 185/60HR14 tires. The interior is still original and in good shape. The passenger seat has some very small tears in the insert seams. It could be inserted easily. There are a few small cracks in the dash, but it could be easily repaired. The dash face and gauges are in beautiful shape. I had the door jambs, trunk, and engine compartment painted anthracite gray metallic. It is available online at TPCglabal.com. The insides of the fenders fender supports, front radiator supports have all been coated with truck bed coating. I have also converted many of the fasteners to stainless steel. I intended the car to be a daily driver, but I am also a bit OCD, so much of the restoration is pretty detailed. It is not a show car, but it is nicer than most of the drivers that you will come across. I hope that whoever buys this car will complete it with the dedication and care that I have had for the last 8 years. The Japanese car market has really exploded lately and the Carina is very rare. It was marketed in Japan as a 4 door performance sedan to accompany the Celica. In fact they are both TA coded cars. The A designates the multi-link coil spring rear suspension chassis. The T designates the lighter hemi-head motor. In Japan the Celica came with a 2TG double overhead cam motor with twin two barrel Mikuni carbs instead of the truck based 20R. In fact, the Celica suspension components interchange with the Carina. The USA market is the only place the 2 door Carina was sold. This makes it an exceptionally rare car. It is also one of the lightest import performance cars at a little over 2000 lbs. The car would be a great investment especially for those of us who really appreciate the early Japanese tuner cars.
this auction is for 2 Toyota Carinas, so it is buyers responsibility to remove "2 non-running cars".
