1978 Toyota Landcruiser FJ40 Original Paint Uncut Unmolested & Unrestored
1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 Description
1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ 40 in outstanding original condition. The most coveted year of the FJ40s and last year of the classic round bezel. 114,300 original miles on the stock Inline 6 cylinder, 4.2L, 2F engine and factory 4 speed transmission. Meticulously maintained. Recent full tune up included oil/filter, points, rotor, condenser, antifreeze, spark plugs, and brand new Optima Red Top High Performance AGM gel Battery. All emissions controls have been removed and will be included with this sale. I have every hose, wire, Smog pump and canister to return it to it's factory condition, however it is unnecessary as I just took it through DEQ (Dept. of Environmental Quality) and it passed with flying colors. New muffler and exhaust out the back. Only E0 (Ethanol-Free) premium gasoline has ever been used in this engine and it purrs. Front disc, rear drum brakes work perfectly. (E-Brake too). Warn locking hubs, four wheel drive (both High and Low) work perfectly. I had a 4" HFS (Hell For Stout) lift kit from CCOT professionally installed to accommodate the BF Goodrich 33X10.5" Mud Terrain Radial (KM2's) tires. They are brand new and have less than 100 miles on them. The lift kit consists of HFS Springs, Shocks, Shackles, Steering Stabilizer and hardware. Including bushings with zerk fittings for greasing. All of the original springs, shocks, U-bolts and hardware will come with the sale in case the new owner wishes to return the suspension back to it's original state. I have all 5 original wheels and tires (yes tires) that will come with this package as well. (see picture). They are the original Dunlop Weather Master tires 4 ply, 7.60-15's, all with 80% + tread. The spare looks as if it has never touched the ground. All 5 hubcaps are in good condition and on the vehicle. And one last final bonus: I have 4 studded snow tires that fit on the factory rims that will come with the vehicle, if the new owner wants them. The factory Toyota #309 (Freeborn Red) paint is in excellent condition, except for the hood. It's patina gives it GREAT character and personality. I have looked into getting it painted but have been advised that it would greatly devalue the vehicle. I love it, and just couldn't bring myself to do it so that will be up to it's new owner. The paint under the hood is as nice as the outside panels. Every factory spot weld is visible, and the entire vehicle has 5 fresh coats of wax on it. Including the hood. I have a bottle of touch-up paint from when I painted the tailgate, (which will come with the sale), and have used it to touch-up chips and scratches here and there. There is a Bonnet cushion on the front rain gutter for the hood to rest on. It has factory undercoating, a 2" tow hitch and Euro-can holder. (spout included). Options one could order when purchasing it from the dealer. Fenders are uncut, unmolested and have no rust on them. The original antennae is installed under the arrow(just slides right off). Forgot to remove it for the pictures. Heavy duty Hell-For-Stout (HFS) front bumper holds a vintage Warn 8274 winch dated 6-13-1977 in pristine condition, (comes with remote) and vintage fog lights that work perfectly. (Original front bumper included, see pic.). Stock rear bumperettes and 2" receiver hitch for towing. (light adapter included). Interior is in excellent condition. Original seats (front and back) have no rips or tears in them. Front seats have the optional headrests, and rear seats still have their original straps that hold them up when not in use. All 4 seats have their original working seat belts. The headliner and visors are excellent ( no rips or tears). Original factory front floor mat is like new. (Rear mat is excellent as well). Rare factory side-window defrost vents. All gauges, lights, heater, fan, rear heater, defrost, wipers, windshield washer squirter, horn, interior light, lighter, seat belts, windows, doors and locks work as they should. Even the "Fasten seat belts" light and buzzer work when you start it up. The dash has never been drilled or cut. Switches for the fog lights, off-road lights and emergency lights are all nicely mounted in the factory holes in the dash. The factory emergency glove box light is in the glove and has the original emergency light plug-in. The top has only been off twice, and all seals are in excellent shape. Factory door seals are good. Factory roll-bar, with original pads. Comes with the original bottle jack under the driver's seat, and original jack handle bars behind the rear seat in their proper homes. (see pics.). Also comes with the TEQ Toyota Motor Co. factory tool kit bag which includes: Toyota phillips and flat-head screwdrivers, large and small Toyota pliers, 8,10,12 and 14mm open-end Toyota wrenches, Toyota Motor Co. Crescent wrench, lug wrench,hubcap/wrench and pry bars. (see pics). There was a vintage Bullard first aid kit under the seat when I purchased it. All of the contents are like new and still sealed (See Picture). Factory AM Radio and it works! The Con-ferr style roof/safari rack hols 8 off-road halogen navigator lights, (hard covers included), Hi-lift jack, axe and shovel. It is easily removed with 6 nuts and unplugging the lights. The top comes off with 22 bolts (see pictures). Side and rear ambulance doors are removable as well. Windshield folds down and hooks to the hood (see picture). Tailgate installs easily to the ambulance door bolt holes and holds the locking euro-can rack. 2 matching vintage Master locks lock the side and rear cans. The rear can is actually a tool box and comes with it's own keys (see picture). I purchased a vintage Kay-line soft top with doors for this vehicle when I was given the opportunity, but never installed it.(see picture). All of the hardware and instructions are included. The emergency light is made by Vista Federal Sign Corporation of University Park, Illinois. We used it on the vehicle in a couple of parades.(see pics.). There are 3 settings: flashing/strobe red and white lights, rolling red and white lights, and solid-on white lights that face forward and off to both sides. It attaches to the rain gutters and is easy to remove and install. The new owner will have the option of not purchasing it with the vehicle. The red 1993 commercial plates as seen in a few of the pictures, were in the vehicle when I purchased it. They look neat but they are not the actual plates. The last 2 pictures show the current plates. They are Custom Trailblazer plates FJ40 78 and will go with the vehicle if purchased by an Oregon buyer. Vehicle is currently licensed through April of 2019. Comes with the original owner's manual, Toyota Land Cruiser Repair Manual, Chassis and body, Toyota Land Cruiser Inter Europe Workshop Manual (hard cover), and a Toyota 2F Engine Repair Manual.(see picture).
