This is a One Owner car. I bought this car brand new in the summer of 1979. This is a fine 1979 Toyota Celica ST Coupe, mostly original, with a solid body, that is in excellentcondition overall. This classic is all original, except that it has a good quality, lower mileage (less than 100,000 miles), usedreplacement 1979 Toyota Celica engine, that is identical to this car's original factory engine. Staying with this subject of under the hood detail, it has a new battery, new spark plug wires, new hoses, new muffler & exhaust pipe, and countless other new parts, all done along with the replacement engine work by a professional mechanical shop here in Des Moines Iowa just last year, 2017. The engine is the standard Toyota 20R with 2 liters and is accompaniedby the 5 speed stick shift on the floor, fun stuff! The car has its original power steering, but it has never had air conditioning, which would otherwise rob from the car's power & performance. Plus both door windows work just fine, and the two back seat smaller side windows snap open somewhat for evenmore ventilation & Midwest countryside fresh air.
It has anoriginal interior, with the original black vinyl seats, the typical bucket seats in the front, original shoulder seat belts, the original steering wheel, original stick shift on the floor and essentially everything factory original. The only exception is that is has a newer am/fm radio/cassette player, which works just fine. All the lights & gauges work, the clock works, the heater works, the fan works (the fan actually needs some tweaking or replacement), the horn worksand the wipers work (intermittent, low & high). The interior is in fineshape with no tears or rips.
The car's body is solid and has only a modest amount of rust in some lower spots on the sides. The car has just one very small dent, which is on the front fender on the driver's side. In the late 1980's, the car was repainted its original red color with the orange racing stripes. The trunk is clean, original and has a spare tire. The black walltires are in very OK shape, but are quite old and should be replaced with new ones. The chrome wheels also have some rust, which is correctible one way or another. During most of its 39 years, the car has been garaged, including the last 20 years, sohas only been driven in good weather for a very long time.
The car drives just fine. I drove it all over town, just yesterday.
I appreciate your interest, your bids and also any questions that you might have!
