1968 Triumph GT6 MK I Coupe Description

This 1968 GT6 Mk I appears to be one of the few survivors left in the USA. It’s a rust free car that came up to New York this winter under its own power. The 1,600 mile trip was effortless. The body and frame are rust free. The car starts right up with a little choke and runs like a top. The interior was recently redone. New carpet, seats, door panels, shiftier and steering wheel. The headliner was done at the same time. It’s a 4 Speed with over drive. Complete with an oversize aluminum radiator. The gas and temp gauges stopped working half way into the 1,600 mile trip North. Nice wheels and tires all the way around with PLENTY of tread life left. The doors fit well but there is a gap between the vent windows and the roof line. The hatch fits perfectly and the car is ready to drive home!

The car performed perfectly on that three day trip and started on a cold (21degrees) North Carolina morning. This car was owned by a dedicated Triumph Law Enforcement Officer who cared for and restored most of the car over the many years he owned it. He took it with him when he moved from Florida to CA and back to Florida again. The mileage reads 96,899, but true mileage is unknown. Clean NY title. The car ran 80mph the whole way home with no issues. The engine is strong, smooth and, as you can see, looks pretty good under there. It ran like champ at 80 mph (gotta have that overdrive) most of the way from Florida. The car has very good black paint and chrome is quite good all around.

Some Sorting is needed:

Front parking lights don’t light up.

It has low beams, but no brights.

There is no heater valve. Not needed where it last came from (FL)

Passenger side door/window alignment is off. Pictured

Gas and Engine Temp gages stopped working halfway to NY. Loose wire?

Crack in windshield.
