I bought this car from the second owner who was not using it very much and his wife wanted it out of the garage. Therefore, he put it on the market by advertising it locally here in SW Florida. When I saw the car for the first time I was quite amazed by the condition, althoughdirty, the originality and quality was apparent. It had typical scrapes and bruises, and it was my first thought to drive it as a survivor. After a short time however, I made the decision to give it a full blown "frame off" as a car of this caliber needs to be fully restored so that it could last forever { if that is possible? ). I began the process as I usually do most of my own work, but the work came to a halt when my back started to fail. I required surgery, my third, which ended my activities as a restorer so I contracted to have the remainder of the work done professionally. The outcome can be seen in the pictures.
Obviously, this was a nut and bolt restoration. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words but some things do need to be explained:
New Top, Tonneau, Boot, Side Curtains and rear seat (front seats original leather in excellent condition )
New clutch, throw out bearing and pressure plate; new clutch hydraulics
Complete brake job
New chrome wire wheels
New tires including spare
Chrome either replated or replaced
All new body rubber and gaskets
New seals and switches as needed
Shocks rebuilt and new bushings installed
All new stainless steel exhaust system
Fuel tank flushed and sealed; carburetors rebuilt: pump replaced
This list is not complete, but does cover the major items.
Now I need to sellbecause of thecondition of my back and legs.
