The Triumph had been owned by a long time British Car enthusiast that had used it as his weekend driver. It had been used for local drives and has seen very little use over the years. The owner retired several years ago and decided it was time to part with his beloved Spitfire.
Mechanicallythe Triumph is in good running condition. The following work has been performed over the last few years:
New coil, points, rotor cap and wires.Carbs recently rebuilt.New fuel sending unit.Brake and clutch MC replaced.Slave cylinder rebuilt.Shifter rebuild kit installed.New brake pads, shoes, & wheel cylinders.Calipers rebuilt.New tires.New shocks.
The engine runs good and starts easily with the pull of the choke. As noted the carbs were recently rebuilt, however they will still require some fine tuning. It runs smoothly at idle, but when driving it starts to break up a bit. Starter works fine. Alternator and charging system are in good operating condition. Gear box seems fine, however I did notice some grinding when downshifting into second gear. Not sure if it requires more bleeding from the new clutch master cylinder. Most recently, the water pump developed a leak at the shaft, so that will need to be addressed, however there are no overheating issues. Starter motor works fine with no issues. Brakes work good with no issues as well and as noted has a new master cylinder.
TheInterioris in good original condition and shows very little wear. The seats are in great condition with no rips or tears. The carpet is in good shape and has had dynamat insulation installed underneath for added insulation and sound deadening. Door panels look to be original and are in good condition. The dash has an old repair in the middle which can be seen in the interior pictures.
The bodyis in good original condition considering it's age. There is no visible rust on the body. There are the normal dings and scratches that would be associated with a vintage 50 year old sports car. As shown in the pictures, the passenger door does have some small dents. The trunk shows evidence of some old repairs that can be seen in the trunk pictures. The paint finish looks good and the color is original to the car. Bumpers are in good condition however the front bumper is not attached correctly where the overiders mount. The proper bolts will need to be sourced to mount correctly.
ONCE AGAIN....A NO RESERVE AUCTION!
