1962 Triumph TR4 4-SPEED. EARLY DASH, BUBBLE GLASS GAUGES. Description

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very original TR-4 Convertible with only two owners. This car was just purchased from the dry desert state of Arizona where it was originally purchased by the selling family in 1963 with only 12,000 miles on the car. This car is finished in the simple yet crisp color scheme of Olde English White with Black trim still with it's original white tonneau cover, sitting on it's plain steel wheels with nice hubcaps. The car still retains it's original sequenced engine, body tag and VIN plate. The body on this car is quite decent with variable panel gapping. The doors and hood could use some alignment. The car appears to have had only a single respray in a brighter white than the creamier color as seen on the original paint engine bay. The paint is old showing plenty of chips, checking, scratches, dings, etc. but has a nice patina'd look about it for an old car. Chromework overall looks very good. The windshield glass and front grille is very nice. The car's interior is remarkably original, what's left of it after the Arizona hot sunshine. The original carpets are frail. The original seat leather has shrunk up and cracked. The original Spa White dash facia would detail up nicely ! The gauges and switches look great. The steering wheel is cracked and needs replacement. The car is rustfree with excellent original floors. The car is supplied with it's original white tonneau cover in good shape.Mechanically, the car is in great shape. There is a receipt for an engine overhaul at 33,288 miles circa 1980 for $999.14 which included new pistons and liners, rod bearings, cylinder head rebuild, and gaskets. We will be posting a video of the car driving in the next few days. The car includes a host of small repair parts from the period. Also included is a large stash of paperwork for the car including the old original voided title, original owner's handbook, service voucher booklet, mechanical warranty agreement from 1963, and several repair/mechanical receipts along with plenty of period AZ/CA road maps. Also included is the rare and seldom seen factory tool kit, jack and handle, spare wheel and hold-down.Overall, this solid, appealing, and early 2nd year production TR-4 Convertible has lived it's whole life in the state of Arizona with only two owners, and is an interestingly original specimen. It's the perfect car to enjoy as is, while performing some easy cosmetic improvements going forward.
