1962 Triumph TR4 4-SPEED. 48-SPOKE WIRE WHEELS Description

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this early TR-4 Convertible. This car was just purchased from it's owner in Iowa who had plans to restore it, but opted to purchase a more finished TR4A from us instead. We took this car in trade and were quite happy with it when it arrived. These interesting early TR-4's have a lot of carryover parts from the last TR3B's including 48-spoke wire wheels, "bubble"glass early instruments, early "necked" radiators, TR-3 style carbs and intake, TR3 style interior seats. They also showcase some early TR-4 features including the rare solid aluminum windscreen finishers, chrome plated cockpit surrounds and windshield capping, smaller hood bulge, trunk prop stick, early Spa white painted dashboard facia. This car has an original and correctly sequenced engine number, body tag, VIN plate - all leading to the fact that's it's most likely a matching numbers car. It was produced originally in White with Black trim, a lovely and crisp color scheme. The body on this car is quite good, with decent fitting/closing panels. All panels look fairly straight. A new front lower valance is supplied if one chooses to replace the existing one, which has sustained some light damage. There is some typical minor bubbling on the upper B-posts area and along the rear tonneau/top of the rear fender area, which need some attention. There is some minor corrosion on the lower front fenders. The rocker panels (sills) are the originals. The trunk floor and rear of the car are very solid and straight, with a nice fitting boot lid. There is some repair needed at the front of the footwells, but the floors actually look very good. The frame is excellent, very solid, and super straight. The car's interior trim is older but could become usable for now, if needed. The seats have been re-upholstered in vinyl at some point and are in really good shape, the door panels appear original and nice. The dashboard is beautiful and complete with correct gauges and switches. The rear upholstery is original along with original black loop carpet. The includes an old crunchy soft top and a very decent original tonneau cover that fits the car well. The windshield glass is in good condition.Mechanically, the car hasn't been driven in quite some time. The car starts easily with a battery and fuel fed into the carb bowls (please view video). The engine runs fairly well with no smoke. To drive, the car would need the usual brakes and clutch hydraulics renewing, along with a fuel system clean/service.Overall, a rare opportunity to acquire an early and interesting TR-4 with all of the correct parts.
