1957 Triumph TR3 Small mouth
1957 Triumph TR3 Description
This 1957 Triumph TR3 was refurbished during previous ownership approximately 20 years ago and I acquired her in 2019 from the estate of its prior owner. The car is repainted pearl white with a replacement red interior, and power comes from a numbers-matching 1,991cc inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Recent work includes replacement of the tires, a fuel system flush, a tune-up, a brake service, and fluid changes. This TR3 is now offered with matching soft top, tonneau, and side curtains in excellent condition, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean California title in my name.
The exterior was changed from green to pearl white during previous ownership, part of a body-off refurbishment that took place between 2000 and 2004. During refinishing, the body was removed, the floors were replaced, and the chassis and body were painted.
Body-color vented disc wheels feature chrome Triumph hubcaps and wear Nexen tires that were mounted new in December 2019.
The interior is trimmed in red vinyl with white piping and a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes a banjo-style steering wheel, a wooden shift knob, and black rubber floor mats.
Jaeger instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for temperature, oil pressure, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 63k miles, approximately 200 of which were added by me.
The 1,991cc inline-four is equipped with twin SU carburetors and drives the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. A tune-up was performed in January 2020, and other recent service included a flush of the fuel tank and replacement of the fluids. The engine weeps oil and the radiator is fitted with an electric fan. There is some bubbling in one corner of the trunk lid and a couple of paint chips which would benefit from touch up
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate shows build information, original colors, and equipment. The chassis plate and engine stamp photos are available and match the numbers provided on the certificate.
